I actually think the film does hit the themes it was going for by the end. The self-hatred is so evident that by the end when they're in the same place and awake, the fight is just the climax of it all. There's nothing they have to say to each other, just the last bubbling resentment going over the top. Of course, a rational person (or set of persons, the film doesn't really go into how connected they actually are 100%) would have been able to talk more *then*, but the entire film before that was, for me, showing that she was never going to be that person. Like damn, she didn't even leave notes for herself or checked up on her other self the weeks before it even went bad. This girl really has no love for herself; it's a tragedy.

I highly recommend you check out the horror movie 'Society' from 1989 directed by Brian Yuzna. You mentioned Cronenberg as an inspiration for the body horror here, which is true. I think it has more in common with the effects that Screaming Mad George did for that movie, though. It's the type where you're better off knowing very little about the movie going in...but if it helps, you might be interested to know that it's only 99 minutes long.

I love this film. By the way, Got to checkout Carry-On on Netflix. It’s a new Action thriller Christmas classic like Die Hard and Leathal Weapon. Stars Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman. Actually disappointed this came out straight to streaming. This film is so good that it should have been in theaters. https://youtu.be/KS0XacjMmOc?si=IFdp9aMRNaTztVk3

That pump it up song was stuck in my head today, so this’ll be fun to rewatch
