Welcome back to more of The Wire. Season 2 is already introducing new ponds and showing us how far the web of corruption and crime sprouts throughout the city and further. With that, all new characters, relations, themes, and many more to help dive deeper into the immersive world of this story. I'm pretty excited, hope you are too!

Homicide Life on the Street is finally on a streaming platform! Peacock. I had been looking for it for years and it was only available to buy on really expensive DVD sets for the longest

I can't recall if you're a gamer, but if you've ever played Fallout 3, the actor who plays the medical examiner in these episodes was the voice of Three Dog in that game. He also played a kingpin in Homicide: Life on the Street, the predecessor of The Wire.

Wonderful season of TV but near the bottom of my The Wire rankings.

“it literally just makes sense. some would say common sense”
yes I agree shows today like snowfall and power are just god awful in comparison to the wire. they’re basically the wire for people who enjoy reality television

The men at the port are Polish, as is Valchek, the police commander who got his panties in a bunch over the church window. Though I can see how you might mistake them for Irish, what with all the alcohol and Catholicism.

That’s correct. I always love the shots with it in the background

I am not 100% sure of this, but I think the bridge often in the background this season is the one that collapsed this year.

Re: the eggs
My grandma always used to say, "What more do you want, egg in your beer?" 😆

Hey... You mentioned at the end of Ep 1 that you hope they bring the quotes back... there IS a quote at the beginning of Ep 1 like usual, you happened to miss it, apparently. Just FYI...

The correct scientific nomenclature would be, "The Port of Baltimore." 💖

Good time to wake up early on a Sunday.
Season 2 might be my favorite. It's strange because a lot of people expected a direct continuation of season 1. All of the same characters return, but they introduce a LOT of new characters and story lines. I remember reading that Michael K. Williams was upset at first because he thought they were distancing themselves from the inner city story to make the show seem less black. David Simon had to assure him that wasn't the intent. With every season, they zoom out a little further to give you a bigger glimpse of Baltimore as a whole. Eventually you see that everything is connected, from the corner kids at the bottom of the food chain all the way up to the Mayor's office.
