Mr. Robot S4 EP 11, 12 + 13 Early/Uncut Access Mr. Robot S4 EP 11, 12 + 13 Early/Uncut Access

Comments

Whiterose served as a great villain, and some people thought it was a bit underwhelming that she planned all of that and went to such great lengths for it to not amount to anything. On the contrary, I think it showed just how far someone can go when they're traumatised and pushed to such great lengths - TO THE POINT that she was so desperate to go ahead with it even if it wasn't going to work. She, as she somewhat put it just before she shot herself, is a mirror of Mastermind who sought to create a better world for Elliot; and perhaps a glimpse to the kind of crazy lengths Mastermind would've also gone to get there. As Mr. Robot said when he tried to reason with him before going to the powerplant: "It's never going to end."

Sad there aren't anymore episodes to react, but here are a few Mr. Robot-related things you can check out while you prepare yourself for that crucial rewatch: The 360/VR video experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=JADKYKWLO9s&feature=youtu.be&ab_channel=Jaunt Red Wheelbarrow, the journal Elliot keeps in season 2. Here is the audiobook as well, read by Hot Carla (the chick with a d in the prison) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNt4BUx6-eM&t=15353s&ab_channel=SFandom There was an ARG that ran alongside the show while it aired. The people over at Reddit r/ARGsociety solved all of the puzzles; you can find the solutions on their wiki page. https://www.reddit.com/r/ARGsociety/wiki/index/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&rdt=57812 Gag reels, behind the scenes featurettes, and deleted scenes on YouTube. It also includes a snippet of The Careful Massacre of the Bourgeoise, the movie Darlene and Elliot watch every Halloween. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?app=desktop&list=PLrhp_jV-cckhXtmdMyPWSV6XvMuR99CXv Hope that scratches the itch for now! Glad you enjoyed the show, it’s truly something special.

Thanks for your take on this incredible show. You are the first reaction vids I've watched honestly mostly due to it being Mr robot. That said I'll probably keep watching. I suggest you do a rewatch maybe on your own private time as it truly is one of a handful of shows that deserves a rewatch. There is so much new perspective gained after the first full experience. I gained a new experience with your comments on the technical aspects of cinematography. It was a pleasure. The music as many here have suggested is so well curated and relatable. From Angela singing everybody wants to rule the world to Mr Roboto. Maybe I'm showing my age but this soundtrack is so dope. Thanks again and I look forward to sticking around for some of your other reactions.

Alejandro

Same 😭

Aka the easiest way to get me SOBBING.

The exit game used to be on the website, but for anyone interested here's the Python code to run it with PyScripter or something: https://github.com/sinfulz/eXit (disclaimer: I haven't tried it off this code yet)

I know what you mean, this isn't so much a "show" as it is an elevation of long form television as an artform. It set a new standard that no show since has been able to come close to for me.

p0sthum4n

I started working in politics largely in part to The West Wing. I think it unfortunately gave a lot of people like me a view of government as largely inhabited by well-meaning civil servants who genuinely want to do well by the people they work for. Those people certainly exist, but they are almost extinct in relative terms.

p0sthum4n

0:06-0:07 that subway station shot in e1 was what made me shake my head and go "holy shit, is this TV?" the first time I saw it. Such a beautiful show.

p0sthum4n

"You were only born a month ago."

p0sthum4n

Also, coming back to mention — THE TITLE CARDS! One of my favorite parts of the show. Some episodes are brilliant with the title card. I love them so much. PS The Sopranos is my favorite show of all time, so if you hit that up I'll def stick around. Gonna rewatch Succession too while I'm here I think

p0sthum4n

When Elliott chased after Angela and ends up in the arcade, that’s the scene from Season 1 Episode 4, during his morphine withdrawls. There’s a ridiculous amount of clues in that sequence that play out over the course of the show.

Robert Lupia

It's hit or miss, but it's definitely fun. Love how they handled Elliot Page's IRL transition too.

Kara

One of the projects that unfortunately got canceled because of the writers strikes that happened recently was Sam Esmails Metropolis series he was working on, I'm sure he'll do other projects but I can only imagine how awesome a Metropolis show would have been

Matt

Really cool film and there are Mr Robot references in it that definitely make it the same universe

Matt

The end of season 3 played "Intro" by M83 and the end of season 4 played "Outro" such a perfect track to wrap it all up and the lyrics fit perfectly... I'm the king of my own land Facing tempests of dust, I'll fight until the end Creatures of my dreams, raise up and dance with me Now and forever I'm your king

Instant classic. "This only works if you let go too." I almost feel like I'm underselling it by calling this piece of art a show because if there had to be one word for it, "incomparable" comes to mind. One of the most real, relatable, tangibly tragic characters ever was written in Elliot. You feel like you know him by the end, seeing what he's been through. Going through it with him, really. What care, finesse, passion, meticulous expertise this whole journey was made with... I've yet to wrap my head around it. Then again, it was originally written as a movie. When you have a clear vision of where the story is going, it allows you to elevate everything and I think that's on display here. That ending will always stick with me.

Ant

Just wanted to let you know in case you weren't aware that the movie that came out last year called "Leave the World Behind" was also created by Sam Esmail and I believe there is an interview with Sam Esmail where he says it is in the same cinematic universe as Mr Robot. I still need to watch it myself.

Road Pirate Films

My all time top three in no particular order would be: * Bosch (and Bosch Legacy because it's exactly the same thing - and that's a good thing) * Mr Robot * West Wing - we never had before and never will again see anything with the off-the-scale ambition and relentless hitting the mark that show brought week in, week out. People talk about shows like House of Cards and others in the same sentence, this is pure delusion. And the prescience.. Bosch and The Wire share a decent slice of cast and production crew, and I'm not saying Bosch is better, but it might be better - they obviously learned a lot making The Wire and improved on the formula but The Wire gets all the plaudits. Sad really - bit like Mr Robot in that regard where it's just basically ignored. The nearest thing I know of to Mr Robot is Homecoming, the show Esmail was directing/producing whilst working on Mr Robot. Think a lot of people are hoping for good things with the upcoming series he's working on set in the 2004 reboot BSG universe too. You definitely should rewatch Mr Robot some day, it's like another show once you've seen the ending. Between the blind twists they don't telegraph and the bigger ones that are hard to spot that they absolutely do (like when he's in jail and they give the audience massive subtle hints every few minutes that you don't catch unless you've seen the show before) it is a really great reaction show, and it's been getting that treatment a fair amount lately - maybe a shame it was largely ignored in reactions when it was airing but I think it sort of accidentally pays off that way. Also you should totally check out Fallout some day..

Martin Nicholls

If I can suggest a show, it might not be the most awarded show, but some of the concepts are so much fun and it's about to start it's 4th and last season and the seasons are short. The Umbrella Academy. It's based off of a web comic and it only gets wilder and wilder and the cast is solid. I think you'd have a lot of fun with it.

Janet Michelle

And we have reached the end! Thank you so much for watching this show and allowing us to experience this journey with you. It has been a really fun time. I laughed a lot, cried, and was right there with you! These final three episodes especially were a trip hahaha. I forgot how "WTF" 4x11 and 4x12 are when you don't know the context that 4x13 provides. It was fun to re-experience that. And now I can include a link to this video, which is the behind-the-scenes of the practical shot on the train in the finale that you commented on: https://youtube.com/shorts/PB3Z7EPcaJU Like someone else mentioned, re-watching 1x04 right away is a lot of fun as that was the episode we previously saw Elliot and Angela in the arcade in the wedding attire. Like Mr. Robot told The Mastermind, we saw that during his morphine withdrawal. The brief slip into the fantasy world he locked the real Elliot in. But not just that episode, re-watching the whole series knowing that Elliot has DID and that The Mastermind was the personality in control the whole time makes it a completely different experience and honestly way more enjoyable than a first-time watch. Knowing that Mr. Robot is the protector personality also gives new meaning and understanding to all of his words and actions to The Mastermind through the entire show. It makes sense why Mr. Robot locked The Mastermind out frequently and was essentially trying to speed things along because I think he knew the faster that The Mastermind could save the world, the faster the real Elliot could return. This is how I understand it anyway. I briefly mentioned this a number of episodes ago, but I'll go into more detail now that I can. I really enjoy going through this story from the perspective of Darlene. The finale provides us with a ton of new understanding to her character and changes the context of so much of her behaviour going all the way back to the first episode. She admitted that she didn't know how to handle what Elliot was going through (aka. Mr. Robot, though it's unclear if she ever dealt directly with the mother personality or the younger Elliot personality prior to the events of this show). So she distanced. It's tragic that when she decided to come back into Elliot's life to reconnect and rebuild, the Elliot that she knew was gone. But The Mastermind (and of course by extension the real Elliot) knew how important she was - she was the key. Darlene was really out here this whole time trying her best to deal with The Mastermind and Mr. Robot while hoping for the real Elliot to eventually come back. In my opinion, she's the one character in this show that changes for the viewers the MOST on a re-watch. Putting yourself in her shoes during all of her scenes, but especially the ones where she's talking to The Mastermind or Mr. Robot makes for a really fun viewing experience so I recommend doing it at some point. I'm really glad that I joined your Patreon to watchalong with you, because your perspective on everything from the filmmaking side of things really enhanced this fourth viewing for me and now I can carry that forward. I'm also watching with Blind Wave too! As a fellow reactor, I don't have a ton of time to be a watchalonger but I will always make the time for Mr. Robot. What a treat that in 2024 two of my faves decided to watch it. Thank you, thank you! 10/10 experience James. EDIT: I just noticed someone else above recommended The Expanse. That's another "will make the time for watchalongs" show for me and I would ADORE to see you go through that too. 😊

kaiielle

This was an awesome ride. Insanely consistent as well. To be able to immerse a person for 45 hours of television is an incredible feat, while also being reflective of the time it was made in that more people are relating to. It belongs in an art gallery.

Rare

Thank you, James. 💖💖💖

Linda

Thank you for taking the time to cover this incredible show and having great insight in things I missed my first watch. Can’t wait until you cover Severance! It’s satisfied my hunger for more Mr Robot perfectly!

Christian Sabey

First foremost thank you for reacting to this series, its been a pleasure! One of the few shows that nailed the ending. This is my 6th watchtrough and its truly a phenomenal show, easily top 3 (maybe 1) for me. Followed this series since the first episode aired, glad more people are giving it a chance, an hopefully gather more attention. Sam Esmail is definitely one to watch, his recent film "Leave the World Behind" there are a couple Mr Robot easter eggs. Also looking forward to his new upcoming series "Metropolis". Now to the fun facts Ep11 - the text file in s01e01 said “leave me here”. In the game/override program the note from Elliot’s friend says “don’t leave me here” Ep 12 - if you read the lyrics to the opening song Mr. Roboto by the Styx, it almost seems like the whole show was somehow built around the story/concept of that song. Ep13 - season 3 ended with M83's "Intro" while season 4 ended with M83's "Outro" Looking forward to The Wire.

Roque Orellana

Both new seasons of the Bear and the boys have been kind of a letdown.

Nate

Yeah, this season has only 10. And the way it plays out I think its a good season to get to now as opposed to waiting, plus since it only just came out its a good time to be taking about it and watching it. It plays very different to previous seasons so also would love to see your take on it. But yeah i definitely think a poll is a good idea, I know how much people are wanting for other shows also. Just don't want the bear to slowly be forgotten, but I know eventually you'll check it out.

Tony Ivic

🖤🖤🖤

James Adams

Yeah I’ve been thinking that too Tony! How many episodes does it have..? 8-10? I feel like that can be a good month or month and a half and then hit something else! Maybe I’ll put a poll up too and see how democracy works hahaha. Thanks for the love and happy to continue to have ya!

James Adams

Happy to hear and read this message! I’m happy the love for this show was able to ooze outside of the video..! I truly enjoyed my time and experience with this and I hoped that you guys did too. This was so awesome, I’ll check out the Expanse too!!

James Adams

Hahahaha yes to all of this! Honestly this is what inspires me. Absolutely fell for this series!

James Adams

That’s exciting to hear!!

James Adams

Anytime! Had such an incredible experience with this series.

James Adams

Goodbye friend, I’ll see you in the next one 🤖🎥♥️

Michael Proch

Its been an honor to join you on this ride that is the masterpiece of Mr Robot. Also I know you touch on it but I hope you can smash out Season 3 of The Bear before any new shows takes its place. I know you asked for our opinions on when to watch it. In terms of like "finishing" things i'd vote to get The bear done since it just came out first, as opposed to starting something new and waiting a long time. Just my take. Anyways man again its been a honor to join you on this ride. Goodbye Friend. (P.S ill still be sticking around ahah)

Tony Ivic

Wow, end of an era! I loved how locked in you were in these final three episodes. For those of us who recommended the show, I think we secretly hoped and thought you'd enjoy it, but never dreamed it would resonate with you this much. It's a top 3 show for me too, alongside BCS. It's been a hell of a journey and a joy to rewatch the show alongside you all. tbh I was bawling from the beginning of the "you're the mastermind" speech right through to the end, it obviously reframes the whole show once you know our elliot isn't "the real elliot" from ep 1, and every decision Mr Robot made was to try to protect + recover "the real elliot". The rewatch is insane. Whiterose is one of the greatest villains of all time, and I think anyone who has faced oppression understands the desire to create a world free from that pain. With every rewatch I empathise more with the motive. The real tragedy is with all the power and money she accumulated, she could have made the real world, our world, a better place for people like her, instead of trying to invest alternate realities. Oh well! It's funny that you mention Blind Wave reacting to Mr Robot because I'm also a long-time Blind Wave subscriber and have been enjoying watching their reactions alongside yours. They only do 1 a week so it complemented each other well. I think you mentioned the banger soundtrack in almost every reaction but its worth knowing all volumes of the OST are on streaming now, it's really an underrated piece of work from Mac Quayle. There aren't any shows that truly fill the void, but I'm excited for some shorter shows, and also will throw in another rec for The Expanse which is 6 seasons of brilliant (finished) sci-fi that I think you'll really dig (it's based on novels, so it has that same adaptation vibe). S2 of Severance begins on January 17th, so you might be able to line up S1 with that. Looking forward to Curb too!

Kara

I just spent the last couple weeks binging the hell out of your Mr. Robot reactions so I could get to the end as you did. Just reached 4x8 last night. It is a pleasure to be bonded brethren of fsociety now. I've really enjoyed seeing how taken you were with this show and how respectful you are and how much attention you paid to the beautiful artistry of this show. I randomly heard of this show right when it came out. I don't remember how I heard about it. They released the first episode for free on YouTube and it blew. my. mind. that a show could be so cool and also shot with so much care and finesse. I remember the scene of Elliot walking down a subway station and the camera panning down from the piping on the ceiling in particularly made me stop and go holy shit, is this TV?

p0sthum4n

The only good thing about finishing mr robot is now you can rewatch it and fully appreciate how good this show really is. And to answer your last question about if the alternate reality was created by Eliot's conversion with Whiterose this whole twist was shown in the 4th episode of the show. I'd highly recommend rewatching that episode if nothing else.

Rhys

Gonna again recommend STATION ELEVEN for a future miniseries and looking forward to Curb your Enthusiasm I've seen most of them multiple times your gonna have a blast

Matt

Sometimes it's good just to escape reality for a while

Matt

OMG IT'S HERE , STAY CALM! EVERYBODY STAY CAAALM!

Domenik Hadzhiyski

Finally the end, and so glad we were able to keep quiet enough for you to still get bamboozled hard and appreciate this ending fully. There’s so much to talk about, like how Darlene was not present in Elliot fake world as she is his anchor to reality, how she always knew it wasn’t the real Elliot and able to differentiate between Mastermind and Mr Robot… Loved the sci-fi bamboozle ! In the end it was just a way toi powerful person with a crazy idea… Thanks for your reactions, appreciation and love for this one of a kind show.

Antoine

Such a good ending to one of the best shows of all time. Both trippy and heartfelt until the literal last moment.

Claes Rishoej

Goodbye Friend 🤖

Matt

I appreciate that! I was flying for a family member’s graduation celebration. Gotta make time for that, but happy I was able to get these in between!

James Adams

Indeed. Now..to begin anew.

James Adams

James Adams

Let's fucking GOOOOO I wasn't expecting until Sunday night, you cooked so hard 😭🙏💖

Kara
