I like how there were no loyalties among them... at one point, two are siding against a third, but then suddenly a fourth jumps in and the sides have all changed. Such a great movie. Also, James, teenagers' bodies are gross (dandruff). Haha.

He is respected by the community and has power to make change with students but instead of having a genuine good intention conversation with a clearly troubled kid like John, he bullies him despite knowing he’s already bullied at home to feel better about himself. Judd Nelsons eyes after that scene in the closet show he was going to cry before the camera cut away, great acting from him in that scene.

2023-05-04 11:59:52 +0000 UTCI love how the movie makes you fall for the point every time. You start out seeing the tropes, the stereotypes (as you pointed out somewhere in there!) And then there's everything that happens from the time Bender stuffs the drugs down Brian's pants onward. The characters start to show their layers...and it climaxes in the "Why am I here today?" scene. It STILL gets me, and I have seen it dozens of times. Thanks for this!
