Blade Runner (1982) Uncut Movie Reaction!

Comments

James, fantastic reaction as always! I know I’m late to the party here, but I had to comment because this one was extra cool. I actually appreciate you watched the Theatrical Cut for two reasons. One, it gave me an excuse to watch the OG. I admit the movie is objectively better without the voiceovers, but as a kid I thought it was really cool that a sci-fi movie had narration like an old Film Noir. It helped make this movie really unique compared to anything else I’d seen. Two, love it or hate it Blade Runner deserves to be seen at least twice. If you haven’t already made it to the Final Cut I’m sure you will when the time is right. As with all your reactions I really appreciated your technical comments on filmmaking here! Always gives me something new to appreciate when I’m rewatching great movies.

Designate "Uncut" for inclusion in the uncut collection.

I couldn't even get through it the first time I watched it, the narration was unbearable. It turned me off from watching Blade Runner until I found out there were different cuts that made it significantly better.

I think it's everyone's preference lol

Yeah; the narration is often very intrusive. I actually find the movie more immersive without it.

James - interesting that you chose the original version. Have you seen any of the other cuts? I think it's a great movie in any version, but the Final Cut is my personal preference.

Bryan Tuck

Oh no, it is the theatrical cut! I never saw Blade Runner until versions without the Harrison Ford narration were prevalent. It really is as bad as everyone said. I get taken out of the movie every time it comes on. Edit: also that ending. It feels like the the Love Conquers All cut of Brazil.

Yours truly, Johnny Dollar
