Note about CLOSE ENCOUNTERS - There are three different cuts of it out there: Original Version, which is 2 hrs. 15 mins. Special Edition, which is 2 hrs. 12 mins. Director's Cut, which is 2 hrs. 17 mins. Normally, I'd recommend the original version of any movie, but with this one, I think the Director's Cut is the best one, even for new viewers. Despite being the longest, it's actually the best paced of the three, and it's very likely close to the version that would have been released initially if Spielberg had been given the extra editing/reshooting time he wanted in the the first place.

2022-10-23 21:12:23 +0000 UTCI am actually shocked that James hasn't seen Close Encounters. Definitely the #1 pick if it's on the poll. Had to go with Friday the 13th for the second pick. A must see in the horror genre, it's had a huge influence.
