Bosra's benchpress game - development

Hello everyone!

A while ago I did a post on my gamedesign for Bosra’s benchpress game. And today I wanted to share a bit more about the development process of the game.

Now for the record- I can’t program these mini-games myself. So I collaborate with others to brings these games to life. And this game was being developed by Kia, a programmer who has been helping me out for a while now.

And this is always a step-by-step proces. Because no matter how well I try think my ideas through, and put them on paper- things always turn out different then I imagined. And therefore we usually go through 3 or 4 versions of the game.

Version 1: the basic gameplay mechanic

So this was the first version of the game that Kia send over.

You might feel it looks ridiculous like this (and it does!) but the point here was to test the basic input system of this game: you have to click to push the bar up, and counter-click to prevent it from going down too fast. And it worked!

Version 2: win and lose conditions

And here you see the next version of the game.

It’s still bare bones, but now you can actually win and lose the game. And so here I tested the difficulty.

It already felt quite good and was challeging in a fun way. That sounds good right? Well, not quite. That’s because I already had a lot of practice with the game before this point- meaning the game would probably be to difficult for new players- and frustrating. And that's something I like to prevent, so we made it a bit easier :)

Version 3: gameplay flow

And this is the almost finished version of the game.

At this point the game works technically correct. But the whole flow of the game felt a bit jittery. So I playtested the game again - and put together a list of suggestions how to improve this. These were all small changes, but somethimes those make a huge difference for how a game plays. ...and yes, the art & animations also need a bit polish :)

Well- and that’s where we are now.

Version 4: final check

The last test would be to connect this stand-alone-game to the main game & check if everyting works. – and then it’s done ;)

Now all this might look pretty straightforeward... but installing an update, testing a game, writing down feedback, discussing fixes, etc. it can sometimes talk up half a day. Phew! So making these mini-games is a bit of a time investment, but I really love seeing them come to life :)

Well, and now to other things!

Neeva’s xxx scene

One of the other things I’ve been working on, is an extra elaborate sex scene for Neeva (which has 3 unique parts). I’m currently refining my sketches, and illustrating the scene. I think it will be fun- let me show you a glimpse of what I made!

The new website

And then there is also a website that I’m trying to finish. Now I’m not buidling the site myself- but I do have to provide the the art for it. And not just screenshots, but also quite a few customized images. It’s all a bit of extra work, but in the end I hope it will make a nice website.

Here you can already have a sneak peek at the site → spacerescuegame.com

It’s tested for pc only- and about 80% done at the time i’m writing this. The general layout is in place- but many details will still change. Let me know what you think of it!

Next game-update

I always aim to release a new game-update after 3 months. But this time it will take a bit longer to finish everything.

That’s because I really wanted to add the extra fitness animations to the game - and have an extra elaborate sex scene – and have two minigames :) So that’s all a bit more work then usual. But I hope to finish the update in about a month ...and I hope it’s worth the wait!

Well, I wish you all the best.
 Till next time!

Thanks Alfie! I'm trying slowly increase the sexual content with each story- and the Captains story is last- so, it will have a lot of fun scenes ;)

Robin

Thanks SYH! I'm glad you like the effects! :)

Robin

Thank you punchbandit! Phew- and it took some time to get the site up, but I'm glad you like it!

Robin

Thank you Rik, I'm glad think so :) Are you fan of games like these? I still play a lot of classic arcade games (like from the 80's)- they always inspired me- and are probably the main reason why I add these game -and of course to provide a bit of a challenge, to make the reward sweeter ;)

Robin

These mini-games sound brilliant and the website is def getting there.

Rik Kershaw-Moore

The benchpress game looks great! The website is coming along nicely too! 💪👍

punchbandit

Revealing the floating women by scrolling is a neat touch.

SYH

The website looks really nice. And die fetishes included with the Captain's story sound very promising.
