Hey everyone,
I wanted to share some more art with you again :) So one of the things I've worked on this week, were the character poses for Yi-jie.
But before I started on that, I first wanted to detail the original design a bit more. So I refined her body & arms, and also changed her face so it would be less generic (see previous post for comparison). And once I was happy with that, I expanded te image again into several poses & facial expressions.
Here you can see the results :)

I thought, her mechanical arms were pretty cool...but they are also quite complicated to draw :) So when possible, I will always reuse bits I drew before, to safe myself some time and so that things will look the same in each pose.
Here I could only reuse the lower arm, but I still had to redraw the shoulder-pad, hand and upper arm.

Now I also thought it might be interesting to show you, how I actually look at my drawings; because most of the time, I zoom in quite a bit, like this.

Now here you can see that my lines aren't always super sharp. Instead they are often quite soft & painterly. At first I saw these messy lines as 'imperfections' , and tried to clean it up by making the lines sharper. But every time I did that, it would hurt the image and made it look cheaper somehow. So... I tried to embraced the imperfections. And in a strange way it helps to bring the image to life :)
Well, and that's all I can share for now... without giving away to many plot-spoilers ;)
And as always, I'd love to hear what you think of it!
All the best,
Robin
