Game 6.0 Download Link - April 2021

Hello again everyone!

You can now download the latest version of the game :)

This time you will be able to board a new spaceship called 'The Junkyard', where you will meet Valerie & and have to puzzle your way through a new mini-game.  

And you can now also choose your own ending in the storyline of Mindy & Sandy.

(!)  For Android: Due to a recent software update of the game engine; the mousepointer has disappeared from the game & causes mouse-related crashes around the mini-games. The game is still fully playable, but new players might want to play version 5.5 instead, till the issue is resolved (which is currently out of my hands). The PC and Mac version don't have these issues.

What else happened since the last update?

Well, this was a busy period for me :)

While working on this update, Space Rescue was also being launched on Steam (on 22-02-2021). It was all quite exciting! But luckily everything turned out for the best, and the game was recieved with a lot of enthousisam. It's currently even rated  with a 9/10,  which is awesome!

Additionally I also got the chance to promote Space Rescue on 'adventuregamers.com', which is really the place for adventure games. So for this I made 3 custom backgrounds, which were shown randomly on the site. And and for a full week, the site looked like this :

And in return for this great promo, I could make some art for the site  :)

And for those who might have missed it, I also did a first interview about Space Rescue,  where I tell a bit more about myself & some of my previous projects. (Thank you Mr. X-Bash!)


But probably the best thing was, that I got to work with Rob, who made the new mini-game. The colaboration was really smooth,  and hopfully we can do more together in the future. I really love doing code, but sharing the workload allows me to make more art & speed up the production. Which would be great of course :)

Hey Andrew! Thanks for sharing this, it's really helpful :) I think this might be the same issue we had with the Mac version; although no one mentioned it before on Linux. So only the mac download was updated, but the fix most likely works for this as well. It's included in the next update, so I hope that solves it for you as well. Thanks for sharing! All the best! It works if I install the python-pygame, python-pygame-sdl2 and python-renpy packages and run "python SRCP_6_0_April_2021.py", although the screen size starts as 256x256. I think the bug might be related to having multiple monitors. log.txt includes: primary display bounds: (0, 0, 1920, 1080) swap interval: 1 frames Windowed mode. He Andre, it seems like you started from an old save game. You need to start a new game to see the new content ( next update I'll add skip buttons!).

Hi, someone know how to start the valerie storyline i finish all the others but don't trigger anything, in the walkthrough say i have to finish the sophie storyline but i already did

Thanks Joost! And I've actually been thinking about that for a long time. But it's tricky, because the story isn't linear and the new content isn't always at the end of the game. I did include a skip button in the past, which basically turns all the triggers that hit during 1 story; but that was pretty prone to error. I could try it again though. But if you have a better suggestion, please let me know :)

Great job again, Robin! Now that the game is becoming bigger and getting more and more puzzles, it's also becoming a bit cum-bersome (see what I did there...) to see the new stuff every update, since we need to replay the stuff before that every time. Maybe you could add a save that has the previous stuff done already, or an option to skip significant bits of the game?

It will be there before the weekend :) Unfortunately the mac version had a unique but fatal bug, that took away the time I needed to test the mobile version.

I'm really sorry about that. The game had a bug that was unique to Mac, so I didn't catch that at first . But I just uploaded version 6.1, that should work as plannend :)

okay, found the save file, can i apply it to the new game without it breaking?

Can i keep my current save from the last release or do i have to start over?

Hmmm. Sorry about that! I'll look into it asap. But in order to figure out the problem; are there any Mac players who can play the game?

Yay, new update. Sadly I am not able to run the macOS version. I get an error message: Termination Signal: Segmentation fault: 11
