Friday Watch Day

Hi everyone!

So yeah, it’s been a real couple days here. I’ve taken week off from Kdramas because I’ve been talking with friends and family, very busy with supporting students, and completing the mandatory twenty hours of volunteer time for my daughter’s musical over the next two weekends. But Megan said to catch up with a Virtuous Business as it felt apropos. So I will!

Community always matters. At this point it matters even more. I’ll be thinking of ways to strengthen and nurture this space and relationships. I’m deeply grateful of how empathetic and supportive folks are here. This group understands the healing power of joy and the need for rest in order to keep moving. I also know I won’t hide or lie down or forget my power. I’m thinking. And there is much time for action ahead.

On Instagram I offered that if anyone needs a safe place to process or lives outside the USA and wants to go wtf is going on — feel free to slide into my DMs at @liarileywrites. I needed one central place so I don’t get scattered. I’m not a therapist but I’ve been holding a lot of space this week and I have that mindset locked into place and the capacity to show up. I’m not a therapist but I will see you.

And for now— please tell us what you are watching and if you are ready for Mr. Plankton because I really really am.

Thank you for all you did, and for the reminder of what we do now. ❤️ I have similar feeling about the end of What Comes After Love. Overall, I respected the drama and admired its style (quiet, precise, powerful flashes of emotion) more than I loved it. But binging the whole thing on a rainy or snowy day might change my mind. That’s a fab pitch for SWNK. Rowoon I like Won Jin A!

Like many of you, I’ve been in full bury my head in the sand mode all week — escapism last night was watching Train to Busan while eating caramels with a friend. I highly recommend this approach!

Not much to report this week, I was distracted or canvassing or, after, crashing early. Finished What Comes After Love, it was lovely. I did wish for a bit more space for the story towards the end. (Like whatever happened to 2ML?) That wrap-up was kind of sudden, emotionally I was OK with it but my head had questions. Also finished She Would Never Know, liked it as well. There's a time jump that could have come a couple of episodes earlier - it gets a bit slow for a stretch and the twists could have used more space to unwind. Won Jin Ah is great, though, and there is a good sibling dynamic between Rowoon and his big sisters (the eldest is a wedding dress designer, so gorgeous), and I really liked how the story managed to tie all of the characters together. Would rec for any Rowoon or Won Jin Ah fans or anyone looking for an office romance. Most of the way through Love in the Big City, digging the realism and the found family and the struggle to know what you want and who is right for you. Just started My Sweet Mobster. It's goofy at the beginning but I was all in on Um Tae Goo from scene one. Sending hope and light. K-dramas feel right for this moment too, so many human characters enduring and learning to find hope in less than ideal circumstances. 🫶 to all.
