Patreons (and an AfterNoona) in the Wild: Seo In Guk Fan Meet

Hey everyone! Megan here, and I'm back after a fantastic weekend with some patreons in Washington DC for a Seo In Guk fan meet. I know a few patreons also attended the fan meet in LA, (including AfterNoona Asks Grace), so sound off in the comments how it went!

First, huge thanks to Sarah for being the catalyst for all of us attending the fan meet. This wouldn't have happened without you, and we talked about you often and toasted to you. Thanks to Noel for arranging a nice dinner at a cute Belgian place. And thanks to Deb, Katie, and Claudia for being an absolute delight to hang with!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this fan meet, and I was more excited to hang with pod listeners than the actual meet, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much FUN I had at the fan meet. DC crowds always turns up, so the vibe was super fun and lively. Seo In Guk himself was very charming. He has a self-assured confidence about him that made moments that could have been cringey... not cringey. He was a delight and looked genuinely happy to be there, although he is a great actor, so who knows, haha.

So the best moment of the fan meet for me (and I think I speak for a lot of us) was when they brought up five audience members to play Red Light Green Light with Seo in Guk. The audience members each wore a veil, and whoever was able to touch SIG first got "proposed to." And let me tell you, the one bride was on a mission. I think Katie said she moved like a panther. SIG said Green Light, and that woman sprinted. He turned around and was clearly incredibly shocked to see the woman be that close to him already. The audience was in stitches! I laughed so hard that I cried.

It was short, only 90 minutes, but that felt long enough to me. I also had to pee so I was glad it was over, haha.

One thing I noticed were the amount of attendees who seemed to be there alone. As in, they bought single seats and sat enraptured and delighted and full of joy the entire time. A woman near me said she was from Guatemala (had only moved to DC recently) and had been a fan of SIG for over ten years. Seeing the joy in the faces of so many audience members only made me more excited and encouraged to have a platform to provide community to those who might feel a little alone in their joy.

Thanks again for being an awesome community. I came back home with my bucket incredibly full. I had the BEST time.

I'll be debriefing with Sarah and Grace on a pod coming up!

Comments

It was really fun to meet up with the group beforehand, even though I didn't attend the fanmeet. I'll be sure to join in the next time! Thank you Megan (and Amy and Lia) for bringing us all together!
