Friday Watch Share
Added 2024-08-30 14:31:36 +0000 UTCIt’s Friday. Shout out what you are watching!
Megan has jetted off to Scotland and Amy is busy with the bittersweet transition of her oldest child leaving home and heading to college. So ya’ll got me 😘
I do value transparency so I want to say this: I haven’t been very drama or podcast engaged for 3 weeks and I apologize. It’s a question of my personal capacity.
If anyone ever has questions about the ongoing situation with BTS member Suga you can drop into my DMs on Instagram at @liarileyauthor. I’ve been actively organizing around this subject and will either know the answer or can find it for you. My request is you don’t give clicks to Korean media sources on this issue due to widespread unethical behavior.
I truly look forward to being back in regular life patterns, and hanging out here. I also fully acknowledge that my areas of focus are just that—mine—and I don’t want to bring that into spaces that are for all of you. Fingers and toes crossed this mess is wrapping up soon.
In the meantime, please share your drama highs and lows and thank you so much for holding space and celebrating each other because this community—like all true communities—is strongest when we hold each other.
-Lia
PS: If anyone ever has an idea or request for a post, I can drop it in here too…hit me up on @afternoonadelightpodcast over in IG with your idea. If it seems like a good fit for the group, I’ll jump in as fast as I can and post it.
PPS: I miss ya’ll!

Yay for Fiery Priest love! Did you know that a season 2 is finally in the works? I love writer Park Jae Bom's action-comedies. Have you watched Good Manager/Chief Kim or Vincenzo?

2024-09-02 18:11:23 +0000 UTCI am LOVING The Fiery Priest (Korea, 2019), especially Lee Ha Nee. She is a comic genius! And Kim Nam Gil's slo-mo walks in his long coat are a great cue for the action sequences.

2024-09-02 17:11:23 +0000 UTCDo you have Disney+ ? Big Mouth is pretty good for the action/thriller big plot genre. I haven't seen many people talk about it here though, but I liked it and I don't usually go for that genre. It has Lee Jung Suk and Yoona.

2024-09-01 06:57:20 +0000 UTCThis week I was back at work and apparently still recovering from the trip/lingering cold we picked up because I kept crashing in the middle of episodes and having to turn in early. From what I managed to see: - Love Next Door: still enjoying, I like the unfolding relationships, and the first hints if swoon. Just finished ep 5 and it felt like suddenly there's a lot happening. Hoping part of Jung Hae-in's journey will be loosening up a bit so we can see that boyish smile. Jung So Min is killing it, she makes it look easy. - No Gain, No Love: I didn't quite get through both episodes. I like this version of Shin Min-ah but maybe because my brain was sleepy I started to conflate her convenience store romance with the second lead romance in LND, which says to me I should put this one down for a spell and come back when I can focus properly. Think I'll pick up something in a totally different register to fill in during the week. - Kill Me Heal Me: I didn't hate the ending. I'm picky about endings. I thought it was just fine, true to the story, which means this sticks as my favorite new old drama in a long while (well, starting around ep 6 anyway, the beginning is a lot). - Love Reset: finished this movie with Kang Ha-neul and Jung So Min (she's everywhere!) on the flight home. It was a fun romcom, the amnesia plot was a little silly but it went more interesting places than I expected. The moms are especially great. The ending was a little abrupt, which I feel often with Korean movies, like they're used to having more time to wrap things up. A good light watch if you're in the mood. Anyone have a drama with good action or lots of plot to recommend? Considering something Lee Joon-gi flavored like Again My Life or maybe even Moon Lovers, but open to other ideas.
