Pod Question for Tomorrow Recording

Tomorrow it’s just Megan and Lia flying without our leader as Amy’s oldest is about to graduate high school and all the things are happening.

You can expect us on worst behavior as a result!

We are going to talk among other things on the topic of cliffhangers…the plot device that keeps readers turning page or drama viewers hitting next episode.

Without getting deep into spoilers — what is a Kdrama cliffhanger that worked well for you…or not.

Also any other unburdening or questions you’d like to pose on the topic.

Also, unless you specify, we will read your name in conjunction with the comment on-air!

Comments

Sometimes I’m okay with then, and sometimes they’re done the same way that the last few episodes of “Marry My Husband” did them and I get really annoyed.

The cliffhanger between ep 15&16 of King the Land completely ruined the drama for me. I was watching live and that 24 hours of angst followed by complete reversal over one sentence - I wanted to throw my TV across the room. It was really disingenuous to the characters and disrespectful to the audience. I don’t watch dramas live anymore so I can watch the first 5-10mins of the next episode if I feel like it. Other than really stupid cliffhangers like that, I actually don’t mind them as a plot device to keep people engaged. I actually really love it when Kdramas use them and then the start of the next episode is 1) picking up where we left off but flashing back to scenes we didn’t see to show why choices were made, King Eternal Monarch did this well 2) not picking up where we left off, but showing the same scenes from someone else’s POV
