Happy Marry My Husband finale day, everyone! Amy here, by the way. Poking my head out of the covid cave (it got me again) after just finishing the finale and needing to discuss.
Some brief final thoughts:
1. Na In-Woo and Park Min-Young's chemistry was worth the 16 episodes alone. And good gravy, I did not remember him being such a giant redwood of a man as sad cousin in Mr. Queen. Love. Him.
2. Su-Min is one of the best villains. She is horrible but not for horrible's sake. She has a decent enough origin along with being just completely unhinged.
3. Did I hate Yu-Ra being brought in as a new villain at the 11th hour? Yes. But did it fit the narrative and the rules of fate to give our hero and heroine a much deserved HEA? Again, yes.
4. Was episode 15 better than 16 as far as climax? Yes. The showdown between Min-Hwan and Su-Min was bananas epic. I loved it. I kind of wanted Su-Min's takedown to be just as epic, but it played out how it played out, and it's fine. Same with Yu-Ra's end. As soon as she hopped in the car alone, I knew Ji-Hyeok would lose his blue heart.
5. Loved the flash forward to see how the full ten-year redo went for Kang Ji-Won and Yoo Ji-Hyeok, to see them celebrate her death day as their real new beginning.
6. The last scene in the art gallery with the cherry blossoms floating in (framing the first episode where they blew into Ji-Won's hospital room) was visually STUNNING.
Overall, the drama worked for me. I had my doubts when we got to Yu-Ra's intro, but I'm pleased with how it all turned out. What do you'all think?
