I feel like all the series I've seen lately have a scene where a character overhears something critical/gossipy in the bathroom at work or a public venue. Any favourite memorable ones? 😆
My all time favourite 'overheard it in the bathroom' scene is definitely in Extraordinary Attorney Woo when Su-Yeon has a bad stomach in episode 2. She overhears some secret information from the wedding planning staff and then calls Jun-ho from the toilet to fill him in. There were also some good bathroom eavesdropping scenes in Dr. Cha, but cannot remember any one specifically.

I recently finished Dalja’s Spring (featuring baby face Lee Min Ki) which is an older drama featuring several work gossip bathroom scenes. The best scene is the FL finding out an unmarried friend is pregnant and making a bunch of phone calls to be supportive. This is overheard and misinterpreted as the FL being pregnant which is blown up and exposed at work in front of her boss, boyfriend, and future MIL. Predictable but well played.

2023-09-18 02:04:24 +0000 UTCI watched an unusual Jdrama called Sweat and Soap. There were two gossipy women in the bathroom inadvertently giving advice every time the FL hid in the bathroom spraying way too much deodorant on herself. The way it was filmed was interesting in the sense that the audience wasn’t sure if they were real or imaginary characters. The whole show had so many surreal moments, so who knows? The ladies in the bathroom came across as spirit guides helping the FL sort out her thoughts and make decisions rather than delivering info or plot twists. In this instance, I thought it was a clever plot device to show the inner thoughts and debates of the FL.
