Weekend Watch

Hey ya’ll! Sorry I’m late…I’m in LA for a quick and fun high school gal friend reunion. But I’ll be sneaking in some Love is For Suckers. I’m currently LOVING Curtain Call. What are you watching this weekend?

Comments

Stick with it - that show gets better and better as it goes along (and the FL voice becomes less irritating). I ended up loving it, but I sure didn't start out that way!

Sara Henson

Also started Love between Fairy and Devil (a Cdrama). My Aunt is a big Dylan Wang fan and she recommended it. We'll see.

Monica

Just started Kill Me, Heal Me and I think it is going to be interesting. I'm already liking Mr. Shin. A lot.

Monica

I was on the fence about this drama, but you've sold me! thanks!

Watched the 3 episodes of Reborn Rich yesterday (like they drop 3 a week!) wow episode 2 was so well done and so well acted. Lee sung-min (the grandfather) and the kid actor did an amazing job. Hope series continues strong

I didn’t know his work before LIFS and I don’t follow a lot of celebrity news, so this thread is the first I’d heard about him or his politics. I hate to admit it, because I’m passionate on this subject, but I’m too invested in the show to give it up at this point and I don’t want the actor to screw up my feelings about Jae Hoon. So, I’m covering my ears “Lalalalala” until the show is over.

Kathi

So, I hate Choi SiWon's politics, but DAMN if he isn't killing his role in Love is for Suckers. I kinda feel dirty for ignoring his stances in favor of Jae Hoon as a character.

I absolutely loved the leads in SWDBS but at first I found some of the side stories to be problematic. Someone here on the Patreon recommended that I try fast forwarding through the scenes with the goons and the high school gang and the serial kidnapper, and my viewing pleasure increased astronomically. So, I’m just chiming in to pass along that same advice in case you find some parts of the show hard to watch. Honestly, they could have made a show with just Bong Bong and Min Min and I would have rated it a 10. ❤️

Yes So I married an Anti fan was a webtoon also. Don't quote me but Business Proposal too. Let me know how you liked True Beauty and I will let you know how it ended in the Toon.

I’m binging Law Cafe and really enjoying it. I love the fire and directness of the FL as well as her wardrobe. I also have the final two episodes of Love in Contract to finish but I got a little tired of Park Min Young for some reason. For my weekly group friend drama watch we started Strong Woman Do Bong Soon ; looks quirky and fun.

Reply 1988 is THE BEST.

Never enough Prapai Sky! Thursday just didn’t feel right without a new episode.

My Mister grows on you as it goes on. I watched the first four eps and dropped it for a year, and then when I picked it up again binged the rest. It was so, so good.

I have entered a Love in the Air wormhole and am just rewatching 8-13 on repeat.

I am also curious about this. My Mister is on my DNF list with the note “Glum, unappealing characters.” I am typically a slice-of-life enthusiast, but I barely made it through two eps of this one.

I’m up to date on Love is for Suckers and while I really loving this drama, I have to say that I have a real issue with how they are playing into various stereotypes around body issues and mental health. Finished up Run On, which I enjoyed a lot. Noticed Im SiWon is also in Misaeng so that may push me to give that one a try. We’ll see. I’m 6 episodes into My Mister and I barely, I mean BARELY, care about any of these characters at this point. I’m hanging in there because there have been a number of fantastic dramas that didn’t capture me until after episode 6 (Mr. Sunshine, It’s ok to not be ok, Reply 1988) but I’ve probably only got about one more hour of me left to offer this drama. Ugh. I really have nearly zero sympathy for any of them, IU’s character being the BARELY exception. Spoiler type question: Is it 10 more episodes of watching people get abused, beaten, manipulated and betrayed? Cuz I’m out if so. I’m so puzzled, because I just saw a random person on instagram say they watch this drama when they’re sad. What???? How? Why? This thing must turn a corner here quickly, right?!!! Don’t spoil it, just give me a little hope (or not).

I’ll just be over here savoring my first watch of Reply 1988. Real life is going to keep me from going through it too fast, but somehow that’s kind of perfect. There are already lines that I know will stick with me. And that talent show! The bus! Is it normal to be reminiscing on a show when you’re only five episodes in? Also, is anyone else watching My Tooth Your Love? The name is terrible, but the characters are quirky and charming and of course working through their emotional boo boos. Only half the episodes are out but I feel like it’s worth a shout out.
