Weekend Watching
Added 2022-11-11 19:52:26 +0000 UTCWhat is everyone watching? I finished Little Women the night before we recorded this week lol. Then I finished Love is In the Air which is a smoking hot, seriously sweet Thai BL that I can’t rec enough. I’m back to Love is for Suckers and debating what else— considering Curtain Call. Has anyone started it—thoughts?

2022-11-16 23:00:25 +0000 UTCTo My Star S2 was amazing - and I also became a fan of the ML who played the actor, he was just so good ! And it's funny you mention Vincenzo because I started it after finishing DOTS and I'm struggling to continue (only on ep. 2 though)

2022-11-16 15:16:45 +0000 UTCI have been so busy with work this week my KDrama hours have been sadly reduced - but have a lot to do before my Korea trip!! But I managed to squeeze in the finale of Love in Contract, and am happy with the ending and finally got lots of the main leads which this drama needed more of. I’m glad I watched it as it was airing I don’t think this is a binge worthy drama. I’m now partway through Little women and I just love how well it’s shot and the weightiness of it. I realise it’s the same director as The Crowned Clown which makes sense to me

2022-11-13 20:48:38 +0000 UTCI first saw Namkoong Min in The Veil, a spy thriller, where his physical transformation is quite remarkable. I did search out Chief Kim and also Hot Stove League(no romance really but he is very watchable. Also Park Eun Bin from Attorney Woo is in the show). Another handsome man to add to the list of the more mature leading men!

2022-11-13 17:29:01 +0000 UTCI'm watching a current variety show Besties in wonderland (5 celebrities travel to Australia, including Lee Sang-yi, our sweet pd-nim from hometown Chachacha, he's a real social butterfly in this, and this week they meet koalas, very cute). I'm also watching Glitch, it's a good sci-fi/mystery Netflix kdrama with two leading ladies, I like it a lot. And I'm halfway through Flower boy next door, and Chief Kim (Namkoong Min is more impressive every episode, I became a fan).

2022-11-13 12:51:36 +0000 UTCSo I felt I was not so invested in some of the recent shows...Love in Contract was ok, Love is for Suckers is ok. But, I finally found a way to watch Work Later, Drink Now, and have now just finished watching ALL the episodes. It's 3:50 am. A dozen 30 min episodes so do-able. I enjoyed the show more than LiC or LifS actually. More realistic slice of life, and better women friendship/sisterhood portrayal than in 39, with moments of real humour and real angst. It has a season 2 coming as well

2022-11-13 10:56:56 +0000 UTCDP is pretty dark start to finish, but I don't consider it one note. There's so much emotion with so little expression. Also, the last two episodes felt very different, though in the same vein.

2022-11-13 04:35:55 +0000 UTCI'm *still* watching Lawless Lawyer. As much as Lee Joon Gi is my ultimate one and only (cue MLTR's Eternal Love), this one just isn't gripping me. Maybe it's the chemistry between him and Seo Yea Ji not being the best. (To be fair, after his performances in Flower of Evil and Moon Lovers, Seo Yea Ji had a big job in trying to match his chemistry with Moon Chae Won and Lee Ji Eun/IU.) I finished a re-watch of Mr. Queen, because I needed some comedy. I need to either pull a drama from the Afternoona Delight archive that I haven't watched yet, re-watch Run On, or start a new one. Or do all three. Who knows.

2022-11-12 19:13:56 +0000 UTCI'm in a bit of a drama-watching lull - Gaus Electronics is over (I loved - so many laugh-out-loud moments in every episode) and I'm slowly trying to get into May I Help You (the first episode is a tiny bit confusing...). Love is for Suckers was not airing last week and nothing new has really caught my attention. So, in honor of Veteran's Day, I decided to start DP. It's....OK? It makes me want to watch more to see the growth and development of the characters but it's currently maybe a bit one-note? I've received so many good recommendations from this group (because this is my first life, love between fairy and devil, just between lovers, etc.). Thanks for turning me onto stuff I wouldn't necessarily have found on my own!

2022-11-12 19:05:38 +0000 UTCFYI, the latest episode of Code Switch is all about Hallyu and the influence of the wars and how South Korea rose to soft power.

2022-11-12 12:15:01 +0000 UTCI’m so grateful that we get to meet up in the real world. We’re going to have a blast!

2022-11-12 04:25:27 +0000 UTCJust wrapped up Love In Contract.... which is what I needed after Uncontrollably Fond! I have had a bunch of FOMO for some of the newer dramas (really want to watch Love is for Suckers), but I decided I needed to watch some of the "classics" I haven't seen yet.... so I started Healer! Like Nicole mentioned above, I'm also headed to see The Rose on Sunday in Seattle and am so so excited! Since we are both PNW gals in this cool little community, we decided we're gonna meet up... Afternoona community connections... we're making it happen!!

2022-11-12 02:49:19 +0000 UTCI finished Love in Contract, which I enjoyed a lot (wonderful Go Kyung Pyo who was my bias in Reply 1988) and also Gaus Electronics (funny, silly). I started Curtain Call and watched 1st episode of Behind Every Star, which is based on Call My Agent! It’s about the entertainment business but a different vibe from Sh**ting Stars. Mostly what I am loving right now is My Unfamiliar Family which I started based on recs here and elsewhere. I knew nothing about it. Wow, what a wonderful, complex story with interesting, complicated characters. And a delightful surprising find.

2022-11-11 23:54:35 +0000 UTCMy viewing seems to be much slower right now. Over the summer I was juggling all the new shows and trying to watch some older ones – it was like a part time job (but more fun). This week I only watched the two final episodes of Love in Contract (which I have lots of feelings about – most not so good) and the two latest episodes of Love is for Suckers (👍🏼). I’m waiting for all the reviews to come in on Curtain Call before I commit. I might reactivate my Prime Video subscription just to watch May I Help You based on the feedback in this thread. I’ve had 18 Again on my watchlist for some time, but it’s not available on Viki or Netflix (in the US) - does anyone know if it’s available on HiTV or through another source?

2022-11-11 23:25:35 +0000 UTCSo glad you enjoyed To My Star! S2 was so good right?! ... I want to see more from the ML who played the actor. And I'm a big Song Joongki fan after DOTS. He is a beautiful beautiful man. I didn't love Vincenzo, but I'm looking forward to Reborn Rich too.
