How Many Have you Watched?

Love when I see appreciation for K-Drama in Western media. This Marie Claire article is great, especially for those just getting into K-drama and looking for something new. They even have the dramas categorized by genre. I (Amy) have seen 27 of the 63 supposedly bingeable dramas. I say supposedly because of the 27 I've seen, not all make my bingeable list, and that's okay. We like what we like. How many have you seen? What would you add to the list?

Drama's Amy Has Watched on Marie Claire's List:
1. Happiness

2. All of Us Are Dead

3. Healer

4. CLOY

5. Business Proposal

6. Descendants of the Sun

7. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

8. Coffee Prince

9. Boys Over Flowers

10. Her Private Life

11. Our Beloved Summer

12. Run On

13. Start-Up

14. Goblin

15. Tale of the Nine Tailed

16. The King: Eternal Monarch

22. Pachinko (not really a drama but happy to see it mentioned)

23. Mr. Sunshine

24. Hospital Playlist

25. Extraordinary Attorney Woo

26. Reply 1988

27. Itaewon Class

I have watched all but 3. But my list is close to 200 counting movies and a few I have dropped. And I am proud and happy no matter what my friends and family think about me😊

Yikes - I am way behind if I go with this list but 50% of my list fell into the fantasy category. I would like to put in plugs for Scarlet Heart, Wok of Love, DoDolalasolsolla, Oh my Ghost and Korean Odyssey. Love to read what people are watching. Great conversation starter, Amy!

Monica

I surprised myself - I've seen 20 and dnf 6 on the list! I agree with many of your suggested additions:

Sara Henson

22. Darn that full time job I have to go to!!!

~17. I just got started in 2022 https://mydramalist.com/dramalist/EscapeIntoDrama

We are not by any means endorsing the list. LOL. I'm just always curious to see what Western media is saying about K-drama. And with it being Western media's hot take, it's also understandable why it's Netflix heavy. I didn't know about Viki and other places to find dramas before I dove into the rabbit hole, so they're likely making the list accessible to the Marie Claire audience. Cuz there is definitely a LOT to see on Viki. ;)

I am so happy that people dropped Vincenzo. I don't get the hype. I watched all of it, but I was really bored most of the time. I don't think it needed to be 20 episodes. I think that they could have cut a lot of the extraneous stuff and gotten it down to 12. The only reason that I am glad that I finished it was to see how the villains were offed.

This list says 63 k-dramas but I counted 65 – go figure. I’ve seen 50 from the list and have dropped 3. I’m of two minds as to whether I want this to sway me to ‘check off’ the ones I haven’t seen yet. This list does seem to lean Netflix heavy with a few exceptions. Slice of Life seems to be my category. As for the rest, these are the ones I haven’t seen yet: Action/Thriller – watched 6/9 • Money Heist • All Of Us Are Dead • Vincenzo (dropped) Romance – 12/15 • Touch Your Heart • True Beauty • Weightlifting Fairy Fantasy – 10/11 • Tale Of The Nine Tailed (dropped) Melodrama – 5/8 • Penthouse • Hi Bye Mama • Mother Historical – 5/7 • 100 Days My Prince • Love In The Moonlight Professional – 4/7 • The Ghost Doctor • Hyena • Law School (dropped) Slice Of Life – 8/8

Agree that I Am Not A Robot needs ALL the love. And Megan loved My Roommate is a Gumiho. I keep forgetting to watch that one, so thanks for the reminder!

This is not a master list by any means! LOL. So no shame in having not watched them all, espeically since there's no way any one person would love all 63. ;)

Since starting Kdramas I’ve been on the lookout for any reference to them in Western media. There are a few shows that have been recognized, but they’re not always among my favorites (I still haven’t watched Squid Game). So this article makes me very happy!!! Their list is extensive (I've watched 33 of them to completion), but I noticed the following are missing even though they’re currently on Netflix: Misaeng: An Incomplete Life Just Between Lovers/Rain or Shine Prison Playbook Lawless Lawyer She Would Never Know My Holo Love My ID is Gagnam Beauty Flower of Evil The following are not on Netflix (at least, not in the US), but the article included Happiness, Healer, and Goblin, so I wish these were also included: I Am Not a Robot (I know others have already mentioned this, but we should promote it as much as possible!) 30 but 17 (or is it 17 but 30 – I forget!) Yumi’s Cells While You Were Sleeping My Roommate is a Gumiho ( have some conflicting feelings about it, but I think it would be good to introduce the rest of the world to gumiho folklore)

I've seen 28 from the Marie Claire list, plus 22 others and assorted movies. Slice of Life is my favoritest of favorites. One show that flew under the radar that I binged was Would You Like a Cup of Coffee? There's not much of a plot, but it was so soothing.

Similar to Heather - 23 so far with 10 of 15 in the romance category. As if I wasn’t already feeling behind in my drama watching. This list is giving me a complex. 😂
