Friday Sound Off

What do you have in front of your eyeballs?

I have turned the corner on Our Blues. I was meh and now I’m really enjoying all the characters. Trying to catch up to all the episodes that have dropped. Anyone else liking or not?

Just finished Pachinko last night! And finished My Love From the Star on Tuesday. Loved them both so much. These were the ones I was watching very slowly before. But I hit my stride in each and started gobbling them up/losing sleep. So tired now 😅 Looking forward to starting 21/25 and Cutie pie next. But My Liberation Notes is very very high on my list now, have heard so many good things. Also am slowly coming to the conclusion that I have to watch Vincenzo, even though I had absolutely no interest in it before, because of all the good reviews I have seen of late. Still taking rewatch of I Am Not a Robot with my husband slow, bc a bunch of his western shows dropped recently. Very glad I decided to only do rewatches with him, bc I get too impatient trying to watch shows I have not seen yet bc of his slow pace. Also, listening to the episode for Sound of Magic this week made me realize that my husband is very much like Amy, he loves to guess what is going to happen next, and has to do it aloud to get credit for guessing correctly. This habit drove me absolutely nuts when we watched Happiness together and I had not seen it before. I realized that I am more protective/defensive of my kdramas than I am of western media, bc it totally doesn't bother me when we are watching MCU or Star Wars stuff. But the guessing actually adds to the fun when I already know what is going to happen in the kdrama 😁 Going to wait until KinnPorsche has fully aired to watch that and Bad and Crazy. Aaaa, there are so many dramas to watch!!! I feel overwhelmed in the absolute best way ❤️

Grace

Wow. How many episodes are there? That’s a lot! Are they an hour each?

Becky

Definitely want to watch Liberation Notes and I loved Tomorrow! It’s not an easy drama to watch but I love character driven stories so I was able to deal with the hard stuff. I think the acting was great as well!

Kate

Working my way through Mr. Queen which I’m liking much more than I thought I would! Previous to that I watched a C-Drama called Oath of Love that I couldn’t put down! I binged 29 episodes in 2 days lol. Thank goodness for summer break 😂

Kate

I just finished My Liberation Notes. It was excellent. I’m almost done with Tomorrow, which I like too. I started Extraordinary You because I really needed something lighthearted. And there was Rowoon!! Also still watching Tales of the Nine Tailed, which is why I needed a light drama.

Daisy

Vincenzo, even with 20 episodes, I was sad it ended.

Daisy

I started Eve this week, rated R!! Still watching Sh**ting Stars, which is ok, and Woori the Virgin, also ok. Still hanging in with Our Blues. I am suffering the end of My Liberation Notes; looovvved Son Suk Ku in it: that actor has amazing expressiveness. (Someone recommended seeing him in Sense8, season 2; I in fact searched out his scenes and especially enjoyed the last few minutes of the last episode 😍). Looking forward to Yumi's Cells 2 on Viki later this month.

I’m watching so many weeklies right now. My favorite being KinnPorsche and finally wrapping up Vincenzo, which I have loved.

Episode 31 of Empress Ki — I’ve been losing sleep for over a week now. It is EPIC!! Loving every moment of it. Ji Chang Wook as the King/Emperor is magnetic.

Nina

I just started Woori the Virgin and I’m loving it at 4 episodes. There is something about Sung Hoon that I enjoy and the story is light and funny and hitting me in all the right places for now

Deb

I finished Again My Life as well and was a bit disappointed with the way they resolved everything.. was hoping something more dramatic, But totally agree with the fab fight scenes!

I am about to give hospital playlist another try. I haven't been able to get through the dreaded first episode or two that just make no sense. But a TikTok doctor (handle: icudoc) just gave it a shout out as the most medically accurate medical show, so I really want to watch and like it based on that.

Alice

I finished a couple of current shows and have others nearly done—Shooting Stars, Showtime, Dine with Love, and Our Blues—all of which I am thoroughly liking. I FINALLY started Reply 1988 after succumbing (😊😊😊) to the well-informed pressure about how good it is. And I am lovng it, of course, even though it will take some time to finish. I’m also rewatching episodes of Hospital Playlist as time permits and got a good laugh recently. You probably know that HP uses a lot of cameos and guest stars and that the writer and director are the same for both dramas. In one HP episode that I saw, the cameos were actors from Reply 1988: the actors who play Sun-woo’s mom and Taek’s dad, and in the HP roles, they are cast as the same characters. Taek’s dad is wearing the same clothes as in 1988, and he’s introduced as a jewelry shop owner, as in 1988. In HP, they are married, so I am guessing that that will happen later in Reply 1988!

I'm still on a bit of a KDrama go-slow, my kids keep going to bed super late, i think it's the summer hours here, makes everyone not start bedtime till late, GAH! I'm still watching live drops of From Now On, Showtime, getting into the meat of their past lives, still enjoying a lot. Still slowly doing daytime hours of Happiness watching but have guzzled tons of Do You Like Brahms and I am LOVING IT. I really hope this lands its ending. I'm slightly in awe of this writer creating 2 such introvert people coming together in a relationship and making it so gripping! I might be starting Eve this week if I get some more KDrama hours back!

Finished Again My Life. While not LJG’s most nuanced performance he did have alot of great fight scenes. Love All Play is delightful and Chae Jong Hyeop is KDrama boyfriend fantasticness. Only 2 episodes so fingers crossed. Really looking forward to some of the new dramas starting this month.
