Missed You Monday

Hi everyone! Apologies for missing the weekend roundup. We spent the weekend at a friend’s property in Big Sur which is one of my favorite parts of not just California but also the entire world. I got to sleep in that big canvas tent, listen to the waves crashing down the hill and even saw five California condors. The downside is I was so tired that I snored very loud according to my husband. Lol. Derp.

Question: What is a place that always lifts your heart?

Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada. My family has had a place there since 1927…literally right next to an 80 foot waterfall.

It’s one of my long time dreams to walk Appalachian trail!

I’ve weirdly never been to Santa Barbara (except driving by) and need to rectify. I’ve never been to Scotland either!!

I grew up with lakes and love them so

Megan Erickson

Wow sounds amazing!!!

I lived near London for grad school. I love how you can just tell people have been there for so, so long. The sense of continuity is so different from the US.

That looks incredible! I grew up landlocked which means that I love rivers, lakes, and oceans but won't swim in anything without chlorine. I have traveled to California just to see the Pacific - did not disappoint - and New Orleans just so I could finally cross the Mississippi.

A beach that is crazy long in North Norfolk, England called Holkham. When the tide is out you could walk for 45 mins and still not reach the sea. The view is basically beach horizon sky horizon beach. It’s amazingly peaceful. Now I have young kiddies unfortunately I have to go to ones with seaside entertainment 😁

It's London for me. Somehow it feels like home, which makes no sense based on my actual homes mostly on the West Coast of the US. I love it. I breathe differently walking down those streets.

Becky

Aww. This is so great. I live 5 minutes from there. ❤️

Santa Barbara is always lovely. I do love Cambria, too. Beautiful area of California, similar to Big Sur. But my heart of heart belongs in Scotland. I love that place.

La Jolla Cove in San Diego. I used to "study" (read: fall asleep on top of my textbooks) on the big grassy area with the Dr. Seuss trees in college ❤️

Big Sur is on my bucket list! Amazing <3 I've done a ton of exploring on the east coast, so I'm going to shout out the 'Virginia Triple Crown' section of the Appalachian Trail, which includes three landmarks: Dragons' Tooth, McAffee Knob, and Tinker Cliffs. I think Tinker Cliffs is probably my favourite because it is just an insanely steep climb up to it on either side, but the day hikers mostly stick to the other two landmarks, so it is not usually crowded at Tinker. I usually lay out my sleep pad on one of the cliffs and watch the hawks coast around on the thermals, right at eye level. It is an awesome spot and if anyone else here is into hiking, 10/10 recommend!
