I would try to make something different from Tot, but it's not easy D:

if you wanna do a simple rpg with a nice fight system and story, i think you should try sole hunter or soles of the succubus. they are nice and don t require much grind or exploration. there is also tower of trample and Domina that are good examples of a story driven rpg with rpg elements. however it is not easy to create such a game. personally i think everyone should always try new things so he can eventually truly decide what he wants. that s why i voted gameplay. but your choice is what matter since you are the developer and have a better monetary entry when you do a good game with a safer route. your choice ^_^

I totally agree with you. It's not easy to create a good gameplay concept, and in some ways it's even harder when your aim is too tell a story without bore the player. I'll try to make something easy and funny, as I always do; very focused on the characters and maybe with a few choices here and there. I tried some "sandbox" adult games and they were pretty boring... Clicking doors is not funny to me...

When you're asking about adding more gameplay elements to your next game, I guess you're considering making a more 'traditional' RPGmaker 2D game of some sort. In that regard, what you should really think deeply about is how committed you are to make that kind of game work. If you are not willing to invest the time and effort to make a good level design in which every space, every corner counts and provides something interesting to do, then you are better off focusing on a visual novel style. There's nothing worse than a game full of empty levels, no gameplay concept, and unwanted grinding (that's often put there in an attempt to cover the past two defects, but ends up ruining the game even more). That been said, I genuinely don't care if you go for a VN again or for a more 'complete' game, as long as whatever you offer is good. I like playing good games, whatever the genre. However, I must say that since it's very easy for inexperienced creators to f*** up the gameplay and level design, for these 'spicy' story-focused games going for a VN is usually a safer bet and produces overall better results. Still, if you really want to go for a full 2d game, I'm not going to be the one to discourage you, and even if at the end you f*** it up, everyone starts somewhere and practice makes perfect. In the end, go for whatever you feel compelled to do.

If anyone has some nice ideas can also write here or send me a private message! I'm trying to figure out what kind of gameplay can go well with a strong narrative component. (And I would love to make a full 2d game)
