3D Update Stuff (11.15.24)

Hi! How're all of you doing? What game's and shows ya enjoying lately? I'll be trying out an anime called Rune Soldier pretty soon, it has a super appealing style.

Now for my mega thoughts on 3D lately

This image collaboration is basically what my past week has looked like. Bottom right is me learning how to Rig a mesh, learning the fundamentals of good rigging and how everything works, the course assignment is working with a little robot spider ball but I won't post it here since it wasn't created by me, just the rig here is basically its skeleton. Pretty soon I'll be getting to weight painting which is how organic characters are assigned their bones for rigging! The course I'm going through has been great, I really feel like I'm able to understand a lot of the technicalities happening as I follow along so I feel pretty relieved. I had rigged a character before but I was very unsatisfied with the results so I wanted to get a real good core understanding of it.

The top left is a shaft I had made as a test for a basic rig that functions similar to how a baton works when extruding, where one point stops and the smaller inside extends further, it was pretty fun trying to figure out. This goes for rigging objects in general too now that I'm understanding the functions available. The feet I had sculpted and feel pretty good about since the model was initially going to have feet that just looked like low poly socks, but no! It must have toes even if they may or may not be used in any way. Bottom left is a test for the head I had made under a simplified shader, I think It's looking good so far as well, the textures aren't in place yet nor is the line art effect so that'll be fun when I get around to it. Top right is basically just the improved mesh forms.

I'm really set on grinding the rigging for another few days though because once the model is rigged, it'll let me morph the proportions of it completely, and posing it will help me get a better idea of the character I'm making opposed to the eternal T pose it's been in for a bit. Pretty soon I'd like to get into making environments as well, I think I have a better idea of modeling and sculpting in general now.

With all that said, of course I'm super tired. This is a small sacrifice too because it means I'm putting out 2D artwork at a slower rate which breaks my heart but I know I must learn this for my own future, I know it'll start to pay off soon when Im finally putting out more artistic renders using 3D. I haven't forgotten those super early days of 2D either where it was mostly frustrating and everything took forever. Anyway, thank you for supporting me here and have a nice Friday! I really hope my net update on this I'll have the character rigged. I really should be able to reach that goal soon.
