Replacing Halogens with LEDs

There is always work to be done on a boat.

Today's project was to replace all of our 20W halogen lights with these 48 LEDs 3W bulbs, hoping to lower our electricity consumption. We also replaced our 1500W vertical heater with a 600W horizontal one.

We want to spend as many days as we can on the hook (at anchor) and these changes are necessary to assure that our batteries don't run down too quickly.

Optimization is important, especially considering we're running two power-hungry laptops for a 6+ hours a day. If you have any advice for us don't hesitate to leave a comment below.

Thank you for your support!

I have a spare roll-up 12v solar panel you can have as well next time you're in Seattle... Like you said below, not ideal in Canada, but it might give you hard data on whether it's completely infeasible or not.

For charging a MacBook Pro on the boat I just bought one of these: <a href="http://mct-corp.com/store/index.php?product/page/303/Mikegyver+Lind+Car+Adapter+%26+Apple+Adapter+Kit" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://mct-corp.com/store/index.php?product/page/303/Mikegyver+Lind+Car+Adapter+%26+Apple+Adapter+Kit</a>
