PC Yet TF Again
Added 2023-08-31 13:39:32 +0000 UTCThe newest feature update has made my pc a paperweight. I flashed the bio to update the motherboard to see if that would help but this is what Im running into. Did a fresh install Monday, set a group policy and set windows update to not update. It updated anyway on Wednesday when I went to shut the computer down. Rolled update back again. It updated again on Thursday. Rolled it back yet again via system restore. System crashed in the middle of the restore. Now this is the loop Im stuck in until I can get to a pc to download media creation tool and try to put a windows 10 iso on a usb to see if that works and I can figure something out windows 11 wise.

My workplace makes me use windows but I absolutely hate it. Forced updates cause so many problems, and as you demonstrated, you can disable updates and it still does them! Have you tried disconnecting your internet connection to prevent it doing that? It might be worth a go as when it can't find a connection it might default back to the last safe point without trying to update again. If you have a separate computer it might be worth downloading an operating system which will boot from usb, there are versions of Ubuntu which are good for this. It will allow you to access the linux boot repair utility and fix windows from there. Try it with internet connected and then disconnected if it causes issues by trying to update. I believe there are instructions online for this process.
