The Long Awaited Patreon Update

Hey all! I know I haven't posted anything here in ages, and I obviously haven't charged you in ages either. As I'm sure most of you have been suspecting I've had to place the Patreon on a sort of hiatus - for a multitude of reasons - but now I'm ready to get back into it. Before that, I want to apologize for the lack of communication on my part. I should've officially gone on hiatus instead of just not saying anything, and I plan to be better at this in the future! 

But Alas; part of the reason I had to go on hiatus was the nature of my Patreon itself. It was a lot of work when I was doing this full time, but with a full time job fulfilling all the rewards was just unfeasible. Planning, recording and editing a full tutorial, as well as finishing and documenting 2 or more illustrations every month quickly takes 60+ hours on top of my demanding job at Vela. It might be doable for a few months, but not in the long run. 

This is why I've decided to redesign the entire Patreon, and most importantly, I've streamlined the reward tiers. To some of you this may feel like a downgrade, but with this system I'll be able to deliver something every month - and I also won't burn out and be forced to take another hiatus. 

Let's get into it;

The most important thing to note is that  SEED and SAPLING patrons must make sure to manually switch to the updated tiers of the same name. More details on that below.

• Perhaps the biggest change is that there's no longer a huge focus on the quantity of illustrations I'm able to put out. There will still be at least 1 "substantial" artwork every month, but that could be a looser painting, a character design, an illustration, or even a detailed study. This way I'll be able to give rewards every month, while still putting out some cool art that's not just sketches. Rewards are still tied to "per creation" though, so if there's one month where I produce nothing, I will not charge you.

• The second biggest thing to note is that I will no longer be putting out video tutorials. Like I mentioned these are an insane amount of work, and very hard to do every month. Instead, Sapling will get a real time process video (like before) and they will get the layered .PSD of any substantial artwork. I hope to put any video tutorials I do manage to do on Youtube for free.

So there are still 3 tiers - Seed, Sprout, and Sapling. Big differences to note is that Seed will now be $2 instead of $1, and Sapling will go from $12 to $10 to reflect the lack of the tutorial. For this reason, I had to make new Seed and Sapling tiers (Patreon does not let you edit tier prices once there are patrons in it). I'm so sorry for this inconvenience, and hope you'll take the time to switch if you wish to remain a patron. You have 17 days to switch over, after which I will retire the old tiers. If you're still in the old tier by that time, you will go to a "no reward" status in the system, and you will not be charged. SPROUT patrons do not need to switch, as their price stays the same.
