BEHIND THE SCENES: March Copic Challenge

Apologies for the severely belated behind the scenes for the March challenge--April was a pretty dang busy month (as y'all may have noticed). But it's finally here! Let's talk about what inspired this illustration.

Once again, the inspiration behind this piece was from a few ideas. Photos 1 & 2 inspired the poses-though it's not 1:1 but just a general ideal--and Photo 3 inspired the setting--a parking lot with a car. I wanted to go with an older car so I went with what was supposed to be a 1990 Toyota Supra (which wound up being rather inaccurate...maybe this one was customised, lol).
The graphics on Tadasuke's (the one in the cat ears) shirt was inspired by an old cassette I found when I was going through my attic--who all remembers these tapes? These were my go-to for thee coolest mix tapes.

Again, fashion sites and magazines are where I gather a lot of my ideas for pin-ups as there's so much that goes into the presentation and posing, and as pin-ups have always been my weakest area, I've been studying them as a means to create a more interesting pin-up. I also wanted to recreate the vibe of hanging with your homies in the evening in late spring/early summer.
