Some groups in this community are forcing creators to do only free and early access? And spread hate and misinformation about EA TOU?

Close or scroll through this post if you don't want to read a long story.

This is a quote I've come across since creating CC as far as I can remember.

I don't talk and support exclusive Creators : )

Don't support exclusive Creators : )

This is against EA's Rule You have to make it free in this community... when it will be public :)

Talent should come with morals : )

You can post only early access or free : )

Why don't you make free CC? I don't have money to pay. : )

I want your CC But I don't support exclusive creator : )

First,  What right do you have to tell me what kind of distribution I have to provide something I created? I have much free stuff,  but why do not have enough and want all my free stuff, when I don't follow, then come and attack me.  If you won't support me then don't support me, why are you trying to persuade others not to support me? I've never spoken or attacked anyone. For example, don't support that or this Creator.

I‘d like to tell you that I am facing a group of people who take other people’s stuff and re-upload without the owner‘s permission. These people like to spread misinformation about EA TOU. These people tend to use multiple accounts which I was able to catch red-handed by just looking at their comment history on Reddit and many channels.

Talk to themself: https://imgur.com/hMtGxrO

I am not sure if you are aware of this, but this is the other side of the story.

EA’s T.O.U specifically states that it ONLY grants users who can access UCG/CC through a RELEVANT EA Service, the permission to copy, modify, redistribute, etc, etc…ON or THROUGH a RELEVANT EA SERVICE. They also say you cannot publish, post, upload or distribute UCG that you don’t have permission to freely distribute.

Custom content acquired through Patreon is not a RELEVANT EA SERVICE - They have NO affiliation with EA. Nor do users have the rights to then redistribute the content acquired on Patreon to other platforms or sites such as Telegram/Other file share sites, WHICH AREN’T RELEVANT EA SERVICES.

The only mention of this infamous “Early Access” was by a retired Sim Guru, who wasn’t even part of EA’s Legal Team. The same Guru of which also stated EA has no involvement with folks who create their own content for the game, and that it belongs to the creator. I believe some groups of people interpret the T.O.U in their own way and spread wrong information throughout the community just to suit their needs.

Felixandre already asked SimsGuruDrake about this matter after he posted it https://imgur.com/pFKBpe3

.

Nowhere in the legal terms does it state about "Early Access"

No mentions of ‘Early Access’ anywhere on actual TOU. https://tos.ea.com/legalapp/WEBTERMS/US/en/PC/

These are all proof. Let EA judge me like Pedo mod if I'm doing something wrong.

I've never experienced this from other communities before. It is like going to a shop, I want bags, I pay. I don't force the shop to donate their bag. In the real world, we can't get everything.

Some folks have no concept of how long and how hard it takes to create and share custom content on the internet. They simply take a few seconds to download in contrast!

Don't hate each other until the end. leave it for later The nature of diversity allows us to have different opinions. But different opinions are not equal to each other's enemies.

Thank you for reading until the end. Have a nice day : )

I am new to this page but I just wanted to say, this stuff must take you FOREVER...if you want to charge for it, you should! You've earned it! It's art, you wouldn't expect an artist to work for free so why should you? If I can't afford it, I won't buy it but not only that, I paid £25 once for everything, and that will do me now! You have options! I don't understand the problem. The only thing I would suggest is having an option for those of us who want to buy a month but not the most current one!

pippafable

I come from a game where everything costs, no exceptions and you get thrilled to see a "gift" . I have read and re-read that TOS and well it only pertains to EA meshes etc. I've asked friends works for lawyers and even side asked my own once. If they do not own copyright they can not place a TOS on it. Simple and done., Seeing as I probably spent 1,000s and 1000s in SL what I spend for Sims literally nothing lol... If I want and like the items and behind a patreon, looks like Im paying? Cos creators choice and every right to want paid for time and work.,

MagiCorn

Oh I'm sure I will never ever get bored with your creations.

Queen of Hell

I read every comment and feel a lot more positive after meeting these people who give me negative energy. Thank you very much for supporting me. I'll keep making custom content for you guys until you guys or I get bored lol.

Cloud sailing

All I want to say is, you put hard work, a lot of time and so much love in your creations and I'm not able to pay you for that. All I can do is support you. For that I get creations from you that are priceless and EA never could create.

Queen of Hell

Since when is free labor ok? That's called slavery and wars were fought over this (dramatic but true lol). Creators deserve to be paid for their time, if anyone has a problem with that they can download the free content. If EA had a problem with it they wouldn't be inviting creators who have Patreon to help them with content nor would they feature them on IG and Twitter. Just blast some Taylor Swift and let the haters hate. xoxo

BarbieGrl

To.. La-Le-Lu, Thank you for your comment, I can not seem to find it now and was busy for a couple days so I just got it today. I love your ironic comment lol only thing is.. TBH The people who are doing this are not people who live off the goverment, they are the ones that never had to work or ask for help in anyway. They are a bunch of spolied rich kids who have never had to worry about food for there kids or work a minimum wage job to support a family of four. They are ones who all they have to do is ask family for help and they get it. So they expect all the creators to do the same! People who get help normally tend to be grateful for anything they are given and when they do get a little extra money they spend it on something they think is well deserving of it.. such as CC creators! LOL

XXXTigger

OMG QUEEEENNNNNN THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! Yes, it's YOUR content! EA has no right to it nor do people who think they are privileged to your content! I had to lock up my files and only email to patrons because my builds were being shared. One weekend I had FIFTY requests to access my files because the links had been shared to those who didn't have access. It's disturbing that individuals will do this to creators. Furthermore, websites like TSR garner MILLIONS annually to redistribute users content while accessing all users personal data, which is how you get advertising targeted to your liking & area. One SimGuru made one statement who is no longer with EA and everyone ran with it. No one has the right to tell you what you can do with your content, but you have every right to decide how others use yours. That's the way it is with art! I found Sim Rebels on Reddit and Discord too. So frustrating. Fully support you on this babe. Always here to talk.

BoneSimsDesign

I've been here since the start "I think" and your content is exquisite. I think you should ignore negativity and do your thing, I remember R A V E N T O N S was bugged out because of this and it gave him or her stress and ended up quitting, I'd hate to see this happen to you <3 We are all adults here and I 100% agree with everything you're saying, I'm creator myself but I do magazines and web designs and it takes time and motivation. We live in materialistic world and if you don't get paid for your time how will you have time and motivation to do anything ?

Grimmjow

You guys spend a ridiculous amount of time creating amazing stuff for a game that mostly thinks about profit over customer satisfaction... Without CC Creator, TS4 wouldn't be the way it is right now. Slavery is over, I don't see why people should feel forced to give their hard work for free. I'm happy to support CC creator because I believe you guys deserve to be paid. If people want to get free CC, they should make it themselves...

Geek-ëanea

I support you!!!!

Colleen Monhollen

Im agree with you its just people they dont assume they want all for nothing and speech hate shame on this person!

Adlw

Could not have said it better myself!

XXXTigger

This issue has been going on for sooo long! I run a Facebook group that supports and Promotes CC creators that use Patreon and I have been harrased myself for doing so! I have also found the same info you have and Simguru clearly has stated on twitter many times how EA has no concern about anyone creating meshs on there own for the game and how they lock it. but yet some groups on FB has devoted there whole group based on the fact that they believe ALL CC should be free or early access. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard but because these groups go around and spread these lies we have lost sooooo many amazing creators! Such as Cosplaysimmer for example. It is just not right what they are doing! And I have tried for years to bring this to light and to help other CC creators who are working to go against these people but sadly not many creators are going on FB anymore so the cycle just keeps going. It's such a shame and I think if you want quality CC then you should have to pay for it. The only thing I DO not like is when a creator NEVER shows there work or gives it for free, this just makes it so people can never see there stuff, So you don't buy there patreon if you can not test out there creations. That is not however you. I was able to see some of your stuff before getting your Patreon and was In awe of your work and keep it safe and sound in my folder. Thank you for creating and keep pushing on!

XXXTigger

您的所有作品都让我觉得赞助的很值得,加油!

大一枝花

Everyone likes free stuff naturally. But at the end of the day these are you products to sell, and you are within your right to do it. Keep up your work. And those who can and want to support you will hopefully continue to do so.

Felix Li

I want your content I pay. Simple easy. I can't afford? I don't get it. End of story. Video games are a luxury not a right. I am sorry you have problems there

Emme

I'm so f...... totally agree. I could not have said it better

Queen of Hell

This has been going on for as long as I have been Simming (over 20 years) and I don't think it's ever going to end I understand that Simmers want your beautiful content and I get that it's frustrating when they have to pay for it especially if they can't afford it.........BUT I really really want a BMW and there's no way I will ever be able to buy one. I don't go around harassing people because of it though Don't let these people get to you, it's just not worth.

Lorry Phillips

I will admit, before I subbed to your patreon I was like, 'Damn, this is expensive' (Because I needed to pay the $20 to get the sets I wanted) After I actually downloaded the content, I realized that it was WAY WORTH IT. Your items are easily the most high-quality cc available and it has a unique style as well. People are simply mad because they cannot afford to buy it, but hey that's life. It sucks, but your time is not free. It takes a ton of work on content like this!

Madison Austin

Furthermore, there's plenty of free stuff for those who don't want to spend money on cc. It just depends on the type of content you want for your simmies...me? I want all the luxury items! lol

Sunny Gibson

I support you and will til the end...your cc is amazing and worth the cost.

Sunny Gibson

Gaming is a luxury not a necessity. You can't get luxury for free. If these people really can't afford cc then why are they even playing Sims. EA is known for their billions of unnecessary packs. Cc creators gives us what we want unlike ea packs. These people need to move on! Or make their cc. We love supporting you cowbuild! Ignore them

Simthia

Creating amazing cc like yours takes time. I pay for a few creators whom I love and use their cc all the time. Like smolbifrost said. When you do give stuff away, that's extremely generous. Their just upset because they don't want to pay, sadly there are people who think their entitled to everything. Keep making beautiful content, your supporters will continue to support you no matter the haters

Riku

Cow don't listen to envious cranks and complete idiots.... patreon is voluntary and without coercion... :D

La-Le-Lu

I've supported you and other exclusive creators before and will again when I can afford to. When you do give stuff away for free, that's generous and much appreciated but no one can or should make you. Your art is valuable and so is your time and effort. ♥

smolbifrost

I don´t hope this get to you in any way. They are bullies! Of course you can get paid for the work you do - and you should!! I am very happy to have you and other creators around who actually take the time to make beautiful content, the game is much more enjoyable thanks to you guys! And come on... it's a small fee we pay, I don't understand how anyone can be upset about that.

Panda

This could have been said without shitting on millenials and gen z folks. Kthxbai.

smolbifrost

Your work is definately worth paying for. Worth every cent

luxssim

Honestly this community sometimes can be very vile. Entitlement is a serious problem with the Millennial and Gen Z generations and that's very clear here. No one is entitled to free art that you work so hard on. Ever. Please don't let people that behave this way get you down! I will continue to support you and I very much appreciate your work!

All I can say is this, were it not for the custom content that we all enjoy and do not mind fess associated with getting the CC The Sims would not be worth playing, paying ect. The content given in the game is sad so so very said and they should kiss your ass in spades for keeping the game going.... it would have died a few years ago if all we had to rely on were the sad items that come with the game

Kelly A Houser

If these individuals have access to a computer, they can play SIM. I believe they have money, but they simply claim that they do not want to pay more and instead prefer to receive free goods.

Sofia Bunny

This is 100% true and I agree completely. If a person has the money to buy an expansion pack or game pack (and anecdotally, a lot of players have all of the packs or most of them), then they can pay $5-10 a month for a creator's content. It's pure, unbridled selfishness and it's sickening, and just another blight that shows the toxic side of the Sims community.

J.

Thanks for taking the time to type this out! I was always confused about what was & wasnt allowed regarding exclusive CC, but this clears it all up. You and other CC creators deserve to get compensated for your hard work, we pay for EA's shitty kits & accessory packs so why not for CC

Ulula

I honestly like the options to be different and get attention for it because a lot of people can't afford cc and I like that because it keeps them coming to my channel to see what new stuff I have you know

Simmerina

It bothered me a lot when some Sims YouTubers reviewed EA kits and said things like, "I won't pay $5 for a kit when I can get really good CC for free..." And the "FREE CC HAUL!!!" videos on YouTube make me cringe so hard when they say things like, "Why would I pay EA when I can get this content for free?" I feel like that's super disrespectful to CC creators and it makes people feel entitled to someone's work, while also making people feel like non-EA-created assets have to be free. That's not right. That feels, to me, like an attitude that encourages people to take advantage of someone's generosity. But I do feel better about supporting the generosity of CC creators that make their work free to the community after a period of time because I, personally, feel like I'm supporting the broader community with my monthly donation. So there are some creators that I will pay every month, without stopping, for as long as I play because I want to help them give back to the community. I will feel like that month's payment was totally worth it, even if I didn't use any of that month's content. So I don't think everyone who values creators that make their CC freely available to the community is necessarily being toxic when they express that preference. I think this is a nuanced issue. And I hate seeing people attack CC creators for making a choice about selling the content that they create. But I also don't think it's fair to attack people for expressing a preference for the type of creator they want to support.

Trilbe Wynne

I'm so glad that you do create such good quality content for my game because I hate most of Ea's content. A lot of items are useless although there are some savvy builders who create items out of them and improve the Sims homes. That's the difference though as theirs is free, as it should be as they are creating items and builds from the game that EA own. Yours is different again, you create your own custom content because you pay for the programs so that you can create CC for us to enjoy in our game. Not to mention the time ,the textures, and the cost for you that you pay for us to download our item, and everything else you need to make it all come together. It all costs money and I'm happy to support you as I'm sure others here are happy to as well. Thanks for explaining the TOU as I have come across people saying that same argument that it must be free after a certain time to the public. Even if you show them the correct terms they will still deny, argue and claim they are right. You have the right to be paid for your work just like anyone else does. Maybe it's time to ask these people if we can gave some of their stuff for free haha I'm sure they wouldn't hand it over for nothing. Personally I was surprised at how many items you give away for free. Such people are bullies and have nothing better to do and isn't it true that they also think they are experts about every topic because they've researched it, not by experience or study, but by the internet! Sorry you're being attacked for no reason but you have my support and I love the positive comments so that's good knowing I'm not the only one who loves your creations!!

Bella

Free is always good, however not everything is life is free. I support creators who I can afford and because I enjoy using their CC in my game. In my opinion, EA needs to reevaluate the CC standards and create streamlined best practice that is clear to all players and CC creators. I believe that CC creators have the right to their content and they share it with us players on their own will. If a CC creator wants to be paid for their work, then so be it. If you want the CC you have to pay. I do admire CC creators who have more expensive tiers to give a little free here and there just to show that they appreciate us supporting them by using their CC.

Sasha

UGH I hate these kinds of people. I'm sorry, who out there thinks they're doing something NOBLE when they defend a big name business that already makes a ton of money, at the expense of individual artists and creators!? You and so many other creators are SO talented and spend so much of your own time and money and passion to bring GORGEOUS creations to this game. This game would quite literally be nothing (in my own opinion) without your work and the work of other talented artists. Anyone stealing from you or giving you trouble for making money off of your hard work needs to MOVE ALONG!!

Erin Moore

I think your work is amazing don’t listen to people. When i’m able to support you I most definitely will. I don’t even mind having to wait for a period of time for your content because at the end of the day there’s an alternative way of using new items for my sims instead of paying $40, $20 or $10 for a few items. Thank you for making my sims experience a better one! Much love <333

Some people are just idiots. Please continue to make CC they are your creations and you have the right as to how they are distributed. You are appreciated by your supporters, you create amazing stuff. Thank you.

Ree Barkla

I'm really happy because of your CC! I'm worried that you're spending too much emotion on useless stories. I wait for emails from you every day. Also, I feel great joy in sponsoring you. There's a reasonable reward every month. I hope people who make great seeds like you don't get stressed. Please continue to make cc.

벌레 짚신

I’m a new supporter but I’m glad I am supporting you! Your CC is quite simply some of the best I have ever seen. I love the realism and obviously the time you put into your work. Ever since I downloaded your CC, there has not been a build where I haven’t used it. It sucks that people cannot access it because they maybe can’t afford it, but that’s how the world works. You want those new pair of shoes but can’t afford it? Well I’m sorry, maybe in the future you’ll be in a better financial standing. When people expect your content which was made with hard word and time to be free, I feel like they’re saying your content is not worth it or valuable enough when it really is. I’m glad to support you ❤️

Brittany L Moore

why should you work hard and take the time to work hard on cc for free why shouldn’t you get a reward for it. i would just ignore these people obviously jealous of your creativeness and talent. 😊

jody

It's great to have freebies and if the content is amazing I will pay to have a look at the rest. I've carried on supporting some creators because I love their work I don't have an issue paying for something that looks amazing in my sims house cause let's face it I will never be able to afford your creations in real life 🥰 I want the big round bathtub cause it looks freaking awesome.

Carol Andrews

You can’t go to Epsy or one of those other sites with creators and demand free stuff! I don’t see why folks think it you should here. Sorry your stuff is being stolen.

Tiffany

These people irritate me greatly. Pay no attention to them, I will unquestionably back you up. Keep up the excellent work. This game would be dull for me if you hadn't created CC.

Sofia Bunny

I have tried making my own custom content before - as an intellectual challenge more than anything. And it is a lot harder than I think people realize. The beautiful content you and many other great creators put out is art, plain and simple. People are free to support art however they choose. I am lucky enough to be in a financial situation where I can support my favorite content creators through Patreon. I consider it a privilege to do so. Not everyone can and I understand that. What I don’t understand is why they feel it’s morally right to encourage theft. If you don’t want to support a creator, you have every right not to. But actively stealing their hard work and/or vocally calling to boycott them is a step too far. I am still fairly newish to Sims (I started playing it back in May as a part of my research as a podcast producer) and I was blown away by the modders and cc creators this game has produced. I would have lost interest in this game ages ago if it wasn’t for mods and cc. All this to say, know that there are a lot of people who support you and your work and your right to release it however you see fit. You are one of my favorite content creators and as long as you have a Patreon page, I will be a patron.

Sims Storyteller

I’m sorry that some people get so worked up over this! CC creators that are at the level you’re at are artists !! You don’t just walk up to an artist and demand their work for free just because you don’t have the financial means to pay for it… i love your work and will continue to pay for it to support you! I hope these loud critical voices are lost among the people who see it the same way I do. Thank you for your creations!
