It was just Wan and Raava who travelled to the Lion Turtles, being granted the gift of the elements, so all Vaatu brings to the Dark Avatar is basically just his raw, spiritual (UNLIMITED) power. Also one thing that a lot of people like to agree on is that the whole fog storyline is also how we should look at the show: TLoK is not ATLA, and that is fine. It is something different, something new. Glad you enjoy the objectively weakest (but still not bad) season!
