2022-10-14 15:13:40 +0000 UTCDidn't really want the Stranger to be Gandalf... but when he said "when in doubt, elannor brandyfoot, always follow your nose" my heart immediately swayed and I was like "Gandalf!" *Maybe Spoliers* The red ring is Narya, which in established lore Cirdan the Shipwright has and gives to Gandalf upon arrival in the TA. I believe its "power" was that of persuasion or sort of emboldening hearts which fit with Gandalf's mission as the Grey to move about and encourage peoples to fight and resist the Shadow. We'll see how that plays in this telling.
