I thought I’d share my comments on the most recent lakai you tube post. Let me know if I’m doing too much. Skate Companies naturally get to a point where they need to fold and there’s nothing wrong with that. What’s unfortunate is when they cling to trying to make it work. The notion that you can take a declining “core” skate brand and revive it to relevance is almost always wrong. I wish more people/companies would take a cue from someone like heath kirchart and just hang it up with dignity. It’s like when you date someone and you both know it’s over but your afraid of change so you try and force it to work. Not only is it not functional but it’s ruins whatever you had that was good to begin with. I loved lakai, but it’s been over for a long time. It’s bordering on disrespectful/gross to do anything other than let it die. Old heads that still want to support companies that they loved when they were younger seem really ignorant to the fact that a lot of supposed “core companies” have been bought and sold by third party corporations, don’t have any of the original founders involved, and aren’t actually core anymore. Even if there hadn’t been a buyout and it was still Rick and Mike there’s a reason why all the ogs left or got cut. The tree of skateboarding needs to be pruned or it becomes unhealthy. Things live and then they die and that’s ok. Change is both difficult and necessary. Consider letting go and moving on. There are other fish in the sea.

I appreciate your honesty, it’s productive to have someone break my balls. That being said I’m not being disingenuous saying it looks extra bad out of context, I explained what I meant by that in the post. It’s not like I just used that as an excuse with no additional information. I believe if I had the other half of the video play before the podcast segment it would look different. So I don’t agree that it’s always a disingenuous stand to account, I think that’s an over generalization. I still made mistakes I’m not trying to say otherwise, if it wasn’t funny I didn’t pull it off and that’s my bad. I share every video on here before I make it public because I rely and value the feedback I get from you guys, especially in a situation like this.
