I went to skate Russia, Belarus, and Estonia back in 2007, and I was surprised that at almost every park I went to, there were girls skating. Went back to San Francisco and there were basically no girls skating - make of that what you will. I'm not sure why American girls were so reluctant to pick up a board all this time, but I don't think it has anything to do with misogyny. Maybe girls from that part of the world are tougher and more independent or maybe there just was no stigma against it in their culture. I don't know, but it's interesting to me.

Anything with a CVT transmission is dogshit - those new Toyota's included. Saying it as a Rav4 driver myself. I test drove one that even the salesman from the dealership riding with me admitted in the car the transmission felt bad and said "I don't blame you" when I said I wasn't interested in talking about this one anymore lol. Subaru, Nissan and jeep are the worst though. My brother is a mechanic and he's been getting in even newer Toyota's with blown transmissions before 10k and same with Subaru, one of my friends just bought a 2024 Subaru a few months ago and the dealership just bought it back from him because it's already spent so much time in the dealership shop it's legally considered a lemon and he'd be able to sue otherwise. Subaru has had to recall entire year's of ascent's and outbacks for the transmissions. Just like, idk, be careful car shopping, look up recalls and shit, they're pretty much all dogshit now pretty much every brand has been having transmission recalls on at least one model because they're trying to make the CVT thing happen so hard haha
