The Nintendo 3DS: A Retrospective

The time has finally come! Thanks to your support, we were finally able to put together this episode encompassing our favorite games released over the course of the Nintendo 3DS' lifespan ahead of the closure of the e-shop on March 27th.

Contained within these five hours is a rundown of 30+ must-play games for the console, with a few other titles sprinkled throughout. Of course, this list is not all-encompassing, but is a good starting point for those trying to assemble their collection before time runs out.

The list of games discussed is available on Backloggd here: https://www.backloggd.com/u/brendonbigley/list/the-nintendo-3ds-the-ita-guide/

Thank you all so so much for making this episode possible, we hope you enjoy it. <3

The Nintendo 3DS: A Retrospective

I wish browsing games on the Nintendo e shop on 3DS wasn't so slow!

Oh man, if you liked "Abe Lincoln faked his assassination to fight aliens" you're gonna LOVE Bubba Ho-tep. It's about an aging Elvis (he swapped places with an elvis impersonator so he could take a break, but then the impersonator died) in a run-down retirement home teaming up with a black man who may or may not be JFK to fight a mummy.

you are correct: Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii is an incredible game that is hampered by the waggle controls. fortunately, if you hack your Wii you can patch in Classic Controller support, making it more or less flawless.

it was sort of reminding me of "Cantaloupe Island" by Herbie Hancock.

Haha, good call. I should have said “Yes! Was hoping Code Name: Steam would get a mention”. Really loved this deep dive!

Code Name STEAM was talked about, at the 2:34:10 mark :)

Was hoping Code Name: S.T.E.A.M would get a mention, it is such a bonkers game that i thought would be fun to talk about. Wanted to give Rhythm Thief a shout out, not sure if you gave that one a look but it has this great Parisian art mystery vibe in a rhythm game. Again, a weird title but fun.

Have a 5 and a half hour flight from Seattle to Florida, this will be perfect🙏

Sorry but it’s driving me crazy: what’s the bluesy piano tune you used throughout the episode? It sounds so familiar but I can’t place it! Love the show btw! Your subject specific episodes are always gold
