PURE ONYX - Inner Circle Release - May 11 2019!

Hey guys!

Thanks for being patient while we got over the hump with the release woes this month.  I've largely been consumed with helping Mr. Kittyhawk recently, so there's not as much to show off this week as usual.  However, I did get the other H animation to a presentable state for you guys :D.

PURE ONYX Inner Circle Test Release for May 11, 2019

The only significant change to this release is that we've added a second H scene for the Splicer Thug.  This one's definitely still a WIP, and I'll probably change/add some animations to it.  Lack of transitions is more obvious here, but we'll get it tidied up once I finalize the animations more.  We also removed the particle FX on the new scene's finisher for now because they look goofy with the draw order bug (liquid only appears behind the characters until we fix it).

Onyx Artwork Progress

Here's Onyx's updated landing pose artwork!  I should now be able to give the full jump cycle animation a go once TK gets it rigged up in Spine.  Check the comparison out below!


Wraxe Boss Animation Sketches

Limbo has been working on sketches for the boss animations :D.  I'm really excited to start working on these after seeing how energetic they look with proper motion trails. 


That's about it for now -- we've been making progress with getting the maps in game, but more on that next time :D.

It's likely PO will get some RPG elements, especially if we do a Story Mode after we finish Arcade Mode. Beyond that I'd like to return to 3D if there's money :D.

Every time you play the game that log file gets overwritten, this log from the last time you played is absolutely from the may 11th build which had those two bugs. You can double check which version of the game you have running from the build number in the bottom right corner of the main menu! That build should have fixed the issues you brought up :)

Ok I've just re-sent it. But I'm not sure if it's the 18th May release or the 11th May release because I think it all outputs to the same file, and I have both 11 and 18 May versions installed...

@Eromancer Are you guys considering after MATM an PO doing a side scrolling shooter or RPG? With your art style and what you guys have learned.

Mouth cover sounds really good. Maybe even two fingers hooking her cheek although that's difficult to convey in 2D.

The fast/finisher anims on that one are pretty WIP. Things that require new meshes (significantly different limb poses) will be worked in over time. I have a few other versions as well -- one where he grabs her by her hair, and another where the mouth is covered (I think this will be used for the finisher eventually).

So we fixed Onyx being able to move off screen, but the cause of the enemies not spawning isn't evident. This issue will happen if you exit the level and restart it, but we're not sure why that would happen for you (this is why we disabled restarting the level for this release). It's likely however the source of this bug is similar, and it should be resolved once we remove multithreading from the AI.

No real target, but 1 to 3 scenes, not including multi-teaming, seems likely. Like with MATM, I want to try to make it organic and transition in surprising ways / flow from combat in a way players wouldn't expect.

Great to see this all taking shape, really happy with how the H animations have turned out. Forgive me if you've mentioned this in a previous post and I missed it, but do you have any kind of target for how many H animations you're aiming for per enemy? I know based on concepts shown so far that whatever ceiling you hit will come from the workload rather than any lack of imagination.

Expected a bit of a meatier update but I guess we should add up the previous incremental releases. The new release is very stable. Didn't play for too long but I didn't encounter any bugs. I know the second H animation is a WIP but just in case you guys haven't thought of it: it'd be better if Onyx grabbed the hand on her throat instead of holding her arms backwards. Other than that, looks great. As for the Wraxe boss, I didn't expect tentacles in such major fashion, and I think I prefer a more traditional big dude to abuse the shit out of Onyx, but if you stick with the tentacles, I expect plenty of utility from those. Also, Taki from Soul Calibur sounds real good. Plenty of cloth-ripping opportunities there. I hope you make the female NPCs plenty interactive, whether with Onyx or with other enemies or both.

Yup, I have plans for a female police enemy and syndicate kunoichi (something like a sci fi version of Taki from Soul Calibur).

Yup! Transitions between the minor pose changes will be better too. I'm trying to balance the time I spend on it right now so that we can get more enemies in / make other progress as well.

Ok thanks for bringing it up again :D. We're gonna look into this more once Mr. Kittyhawk is home. So far the only part I've been able to replicate is Onyx can walk off the right edge of the screen (should never need to do this though since enemies spawn in the middle, to the left or right of Onyx).

so far i have no problems and it runs smooth. the secound scene looks good! will in the final version of the h scene the part of undress her/ strip her pants be part of it like in the in first scene planing ?

Hey there Guys, tried to replay the Bugs encounterd by AG, it didnt work, couldnt get Onyx off the Screen,everything seems to be fine on my Side! Running the Game on a High End Pc, Intel I7, Geforce 1080, fast SSD (almost no Loading Times at all)! Buttons work fine on the Game Over Screen, im using a Xbox 360 Controller! And...i got a little Question, are u guys planning to put some female Enemys in there? Was just thinking, since u Guys did an amazing Job with Onyx herself, she looks absolutley Stunning! Peace :)

Thanks for the new build. Faced the same problem as previous; cleared 2nd wave and walked all the way to the end before the last guy of wave 2 appeared. I killed him, managed to walk Onyx out of screen, the thugs followed, defeated Onyx then game over. But at the game over screen the Jump or Punch to Quit didn't work. Also initial loading seems to take longer, but after the first load, starting a subsequent game is pretty fast. Edit: At the Game Over screen where I'm asked to Jump or Punch to quit, pressing ESC allows me to quit game. Have sent you the output.log. :)
