The confessions of a bum dev. (Dev Update 03/31/25)

Hey, y'all!

Bit of a serious post this time, so lemme just go ahead and drop the numbers for the people who just wanna know about the progress.

Added a bunch of music and did some playtesting/proofreading.

Now, I just wanna start off this post by saying how much I have enjoyed making Westview, and how lucky I am to have sort of an outlet to just do a bunch of silly shit and just create stuff that people enjoy. I know it sounds a bit stupid considering the fact that I make a porn game, but it's still pretty cool, y'know?

I've been working on Westview for 3 years now, which is kind of insane. Almost feels like I just started and I'm still a newbie sometimes from all the mistakes and wacky fuckups I still make, but we learn and keep it pushin'.
 


During those 3 years, I've had a total of 2 "extended" breaks, and both were somewhat against my will, as the first one was due to an insane ear infection two years ago where I genuinely spent a couple of days in bed 'cause I was just in terrible pain 24/7, and the second was a more recent event where Intel's slow ass support took like 3 fucking months to refund my CPU as I got one of the bad 14th gen joints that fried themselves if you didn't update BIOS in time or something, and that one was also only a couple of days long as I had to buy a (slightly shittier) replacement CPU while I waited on Intel to hurry the fuck up and send me a replacement or refund that shit.




What I'm basically trying to say is I'm a bit burnt out. I know what you may be thinking, and no. I'm not abandoning the game, I'm not putting it on hold, and I'm not gonna just vanish and close all my accounts. 

I'm going to be taking 10 whole days off development some time this month to just touch grass and re-calibrate a bit. I've been planning this for a few months now, and I've been thinking on how to tell y'all about it, and decided to just go on a long-winded, un-edited yappathon as you can see.


Progress will still be made on the game, however, as I have a long ass queue that is going to be processed while I'm gone, and I'm still gonna get some writing/playtesting done. Naturally won't be as much as I would normally get when I'm in work mode, but whatevs.


Before I end this dev update, I want to give a shoutout to one of the boys who just released the first Chapter of their new AVN called "Moonlight". It's a pretty dope first release, and I think a lot of you will enjoy it. You can check it out here! (Charlie best girl btw)
