Saab 96 (2-stroke, 1960, stock + historic rally)

Hi! This month I achieved another milestone.

First of all, the interior, especially on stock version, doesn't look great... However, there's a good reason for that: I actually modeled it myself. That was my first attempt to modeling something really big, and considering almost zero experience, It's not terrible I guess. There's a lot to improve for sure, like dash and headliner, I'll probably update it sooner or later, but for now I don't have enough motivation to do so, so I decided to just share the initial version and focus on different projects. As it's not the level I'm aiming at, I'm going to release bonus mod this month for You, to compensate for that - I hope I'll be able to finish the Mazda 323F that I've been working on for months now. This one probably won't be great either, considering super low-poly model, but I'll do my best to meet Your expectations! :)

So, few words about the Saab... The 96 is one of the first cars released by manufacturer that initially specialised in jets. In early years, it's been powered by one of the best sounding 2-stroke engines ever. Later, due to performance and high emissions (yes, high even for 1960s, lol) it was changed to Ford V4 - which I did not include for now (but, spoiler alert, I might make another jet fighter that used the same engine... :3).

The 96 had fairly succesful rally career, with Erik Carlsson behind the wheel. It is often used nowadays in historic rallies as well - which is exactly what I tried to build in my own spec. Apart from the credits below, I should mention that interview with Bruce Turk, president of Vintage Saab Club, was extremally helpful to make it realistic. I especially liked the idea of Baja exhaust, it's simply awesome, isn't it? I added few easter eggs for fellow pilots, too, let's see how many You can find..!
