The Incubus System Chapter 1152. A Date With My Step Sis II

The Incubus System Chapter 1152. A Date With My Step Sis II

Tiffany turned her gaze to me, and this time, her smile was smaller. Genuine.

And her cheeks were just a little red.

I blinked.

Oh.

Something about that felt… different.

She quickly looked away, clearing her throat, but the redness lingered.

I exhaled, shaking my head with a smirk. “You know… if you’re ever lonely, maybe you could drop by my place.”

Her eyes flicked back to me, curiosity piqued. “Oh?”

I shrugged. “I mean, the place is a bit crowded lately. I’ve got five pets now… and, uh… a freeloader.”

Tiffany raised a brow. “A freeloader?”

‘Shit.’

I scratched the back of my head, instantly regretting my word choice.

“Uh. More like… an acquaintance,” I corrected quickly. Grinning innocently.

Her eyes narrowed slightly. “Aha.”

I could feel the skepticism radiating off her.

I shoved a fry into my mouth, chewing aggressively to avoid speaking.

Tiffany crossed her arms, watching me like a predator about to pounce. “And what’s this ‘freeloader’s’ name?”

I coughed. “Uh. Doesn’t matter.”

“Uh-huh.”

She leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table. “Ethan.”

I swallowed. “Yeah?”

Her eyes glinted with something dangerous. “You’re acting way too suspicious right now.”

I huffed, looking away. ‘Damn it.’

This was why I didn’t mention Puriel. Because I couldn’t just say… “Oh yeah, there’s an angel crashing at my place, and fun fact—I’ve slept with her.”

Nope. Not happening.

Tiffany smirked, like she could smell the bullshit. “Sooo… is this acquaintance a guy or a girl?”

I froze.

Her grin widened. “A girl, huh?”

I shoved another fry into my mouth. “Irrelevant information.”

Tiffany laughed. “Oh my God, it totally is a girl.”

I groaned, rubbing my temples. I walked straight into that one.

Tiffany’s grin turned wicked. “Wait. Do I know her?”

“Absolutely not,” I said immediately.

She gasped dramatically. “You didn’t even hesitate!”

“Because you don’t.”

“Are you sure?”

“Positive.”

She tapped a finger against the table. “Hmm. Suspicious.”

I rolled my eyes. “Tiffany.”

She rested her chin in her palm. “Fine, fine. Keep your secrets.”

I exhaled, relieved.

She smirked. “For now.”

I groaned. “Seriously?”

Tiffany laughed, finally returning to her milkshake. “Relax. I’ll figure it out eventually.”

I shook my head, but the amusement in her eyes made it hard to be annoyed.

Yeah.

This was definitely a mistake.

I should have just said, "Oh yeah, it’s a random neighbor I barely know." Or maybe, "Just a stray cat that decided to live rent-free in my house." But no. I had to call Puriel a freeloader.

Now Tiffany’s detective instincts were in full force.

She sipped her milkshake, staring at me with narrowed eyes. “Is it Ruby?”

I choked. I physically recoiled, my face twisting into an ugly cringe. Of all the names she could have guessed. I mean, yeah, Ruby was my servant, and yeah, we had slept together, but the idea of living under the same roof as her? That thought made me shudder. I could already imagine it.

Ruby clinging to me 24/7, calling me ‘Master’ in that breathy, over-the-top way, wrapping herself around me every time I sat down, rubbing against me like a cat in heat, and— Nope. Nope.

Tiffany raised a brow. “So that’s a no?”

I shook my head violently. “Hell no.”

Tiffany smirked. “You look traumatized.”

I dragged a hand down my face. “I’m fine with Ruby. She’s… helpful. But in some cases…” I exhaled, staring at my coffee like it had all the answers. “She’s too much.”

Tiffany snorted. “I mean, she was pretty clingy the last time I saw her.”

I sighed. “Yeah. Imagine that. But twenty-four seven.”

Tiffany made a face. “Okay. Fair point.”

I took a bite of my burger, thinking the conversation was over.

It wasn’t.

Because then— Tiffany leaned on her hand, giving me a look. The look.

“You know,” she said casually, “you seem to be collecting a lot of girls lately.”

I froze mid-chew and tried to act normal. I failed.

She smirked. “Oh? No denial?”

I quickly swallowed, clearing my throat. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Tiffany raised a brow, tapping her nails against her cup. “Come on, Ethan.” She laughed, clearly enjoying this. “So, how many is it now?”

I hesitated.

Tiffany pounced. “Oh my God, you actually have to think about it.”

I scowled. “I do not.”

“You do!”

I pointed at her. “This is entrapment.”

She grinned, leaning in. “Come on, Ethan. Give me a number.”

I sighed, staring at the ceiling.

…Yeah. There was no safe answer.

No matter what number I gave Tiffany, she was going to have an opinion about it. And knowing her? She’d never let me hear the end of it.

So I did what any reasonable man in my position would do.

I pretended to be way too busy eating my cheeseburger.

Big bite.

Chewing aggressively.

Not looking at her.

Tiffany narrowed her eyes. “Oh, come on. That’s not gonna work.”

I swallowed, sighing dramatically. “Tiff, I don’t know what to tell you.”

She rested her chin in her palm, watching me way too closely. “Alright, fine. Let’s try a different question.”

I tensed. That sounded worse.

She tapped her fingers against the table. “Do you even know why they’re into you?”

I blinked.

Then, slowly, I turned to her, deadpan. “Tiffany. Do you seriously think I know the answer to that?”

She huffed, crossing her arms. “Well, you should ask them.”

I took another big bite of my cheeseburger. “Mhm. Sure. I’ll just go around polling them. ‘Hey, can you fill out this questionnaire on why you’re into me?’”

Tiffany let out a small snort. “Okay, okay, I get it. It’s a hard question.”

She poked at what was left of her Mega Choco Madness, swirling her straw around the melted chocolate and whipped cream. “I mean… I can’t explain it either.”

I raised a brow. “What? Why you’re into me?”

Her hand froze.

I saw it. The split-second hesitation.

The way she immediately tensed, the way her grip on the straw tightened—like she had been caught off guard by her own words.

Her ears went pink.

And just like that, I knew.

Oh.

Oh.

Tiffany quickly looked away, her expression a little too forced, a little too casual.
