The Incubus System Chapter 1110. Demons Eat Cakes Now?

The Incubus System Chapter 1110. Demons Eat Cakes Now?

“So,” I said, clapping my hands together and forcing my voice to sound way more cheerful than I felt, “since everything is cool now… how about cakes? Anyone?”

Larry immediately perked up like I’d just suggested something revolutionary. “I agree!” he said with a grin. Of course, he’d jump at the idea. He probably just wanted to stuff his mouth with cake to avoid saying something that might get him killed.

I turned toward Celia, who was still half-hiding behind the kitchen counter like a frightened bunny. “I believe we still have some, right, Celia?”

Her eyes widened slightly, and she stood up so quickly that I thought she might knock something over. “Uh, yes! We do!” she said nervously, dashing to the fridge. She pulled out a tray of neatly arranged cakes, grinning awkwardly. “I… just bought these this morning!”

I raised an eyebrow, not entirely sure whether to believe her. Honestly, I didn’t even care. I was more impressed by her quick thinking. Celia might’ve been nervous, but she wasn’t clueless.

“Awesome,” I said, giving her a thumbs-up before glancing back at the others. “Cakes for everyone, then.”

Lord Damon, Lilieth, and Puriel exchanged glances. The confusion on their faces was painfully obvious. Puriel tilted her head slightly, her hair catching the light as she gave me a skeptical look. “Demons eat cakes now?” she asked, her tone filled with genuine curiosity. “I thought… they ate humans.”

I facepalmed internally.

Before I could respond, Lilieth smiled sweetly—too sweetly. “Oh, no, dear,” she said, her voice dripping with faux innocence. “We don’t eat human cakes. We eat humans.”

Larry’s grin disappeared faster than a rabbit in front of a hungry wolf. He froze, his eyes darting nervously toward Lilieth and then Lord Damon, who was smirking like he found the whole thing hilarious.

I could practically hear Larry’s thoughts screaming, ‘I’m the only human here!’

Okay, technically, Celia was also human, but she was safely behind the kitchen counter and therefore out of immediate danger. Larry, on the other hand, was sitting right next to me, sandwiched between a literal demon lord and an angel with trust issues. Poor guy looked like he was one bad joke away from passing out.

“Then… Do you have another idea?” I asked, trying to steer the conversation away from cannibalism before Larry had a heart attack.

There was a brief pause as everyone processed my question. Puriel frowned slightly, clearly still confused about the whole ‘demons eating cakes’ thing. Lilieth leaned back against the couch, looking mildly amused but thankfully not pushing the whole ‘we eat humans’ narrative any further. Lord Damon, meanwhile, looked like he was considering whether or not to keep teasing Larry.

Larry, for his part, was doing his best to keep it together. “I mean,” he said slowly, glancing at me out of the corner of his eye, “I’m not gonna lie, I’d prefer cakes over… you know… becoming a snack.”

“You’ll be fine,” I muttered, patting his shoulder reassuringly. “Nobody’s gonna eat you. Right?” I shot a pointed look at my parents.

Lord Damon smirked but said nothing. Lilieth just gave me an innocent smile that did absolutely nothing to reassure anyone. Typical. Meanwhile, Larry was sitting stiffly by my side, his eyes darting between my parents like they were about to pounce on him at any second.

“I’m so dead…” he muttered under his breath, nervously nibbling on his slice of cake.

“Okay, no eating anyone,” I said, raising my hands in mock surrender. “Let’s just talk.”

Lord Damon leaned forward slightly, the playful smirk fading from his face. “I’ll cut the chit chat, Damian. We’re just here to congratulate you and talk about a couple of things.” He glanced at Lilieth, his expression softening for a moment before adding, “Well… your mom also kinda missed you, so we came here.”

Lilieth nodded, giving me a warm, genuine smile this time. “It’s true. We wanted to see how you were doing after everything.”

Despite how much my parents annoyed me sometimes, I couldn’t help but feel a little touched. They didn’t have to come all the way here just for this, yet here they were. “Thanks,” I said, trying to sound casual but failing a little. “I appreciate it.”

Lord Damon waved off my gratitude like it was unnecessary. “Don’t mention it. Now, let’s get to the point. There are a couple of things we need to discuss.”

I raised an eyebrow, leaning back against the couch. “Okay… what kind of things?”

Lilieth’s eyes flicked toward the others in the room—Larry, Celia, and Puriel. “First of all… can we trust those three?”

“Three?” I asked, confused for a second before realizing who she was referring to. She gestured toward Larry, Puriel, and Celia, and I sighed internally. Of course, this would come up.

“Yes,” I said firmly. “Celia is my sister. You know that. Larry is my best friend. Sure, he’s a demon hunter, but he’s also been by my side for years. He’s not a threat.”

Lord Damon narrowed his eyes slightly, still clearly skeptical. “And what about her?” he asked, pointing directly at Puriel.

I glanced at her, and for a split second, I could see the tension in her posture. She didn’t look scared exactly, but she definitely wasn’t comfortable being interrogated by my parents. I couldn’t blame her.

“She was trapped in the human world for a long time,” I explained. “She’s my partner now, and I trust her.”

There was a tense silence as Lord Damon stared at Puriel, as if trying to gauge whether or not she was lying. Puriel, to her credit, didn’t flinch under his gaze. After what felt like an eternity, he finally nodded.

“Okay,” he said gruffly, leaning back once more. “For now.”

I let out a quiet sigh of relief. That could’ve gone a lot worse.

“Right,” Lord Damon continued. “Now that that’s settled, I wanted to give you a little update about Beel and Zatan.”

I frowned. “What about them?”
