Dragon King's Harem Chapter 419. Couldn’t Control Myself

Dragon King's Harem Chapter 419. Couldn’t Control Myself

I kissed her again, soft and slow, savoring the moment as if it were the last drop of a fine wine. The taste of her lips lingered on mine, sweet and slightly salty from all that exertion. Her body was still pressed against mine, warm and trembling, like she hadn’t fully come down from the high yet. Slowly, I pulled out, feeling her shiver one last time, and collapsed beside her on the bed. Her chest heaving like she’d just run a marathon.

“That was…” Marissa trailed off, trying to catch her breath. Her eyes were half-lidded, cheeks flushed, hair a mess, but damn, she looked like a goddess lying there.

“Intense?” I offered, turning my head to face her, a lazy grin on my lips. “You were holding on like your life depended on it.”

She laughed softly, the sound almost musical. “Says the guy who didn’t even let me come the second time until he was ready.”

“Gotta keep things interesting, right?” I teased, nudging her shoulder playfully. She rolled her eyes but didn’t bother to argue.

Neither of us moved much—didn’t need to. The silence wasn’t awkward; it was the kind of quiet that happens when two people are so comfortable with each other that words aren’t necessary.

But of course, I couldn’t let it stay quiet forever.

“So…” I started, running a hand through my hair. “How do you feel? This is your second time. The first time we did it without anyone.”

Marissa turned her head, propping herself up on one elbow to look at me. “Honestly?” She paused, her expression thoughtful. “It was… overwhelming. In a good way. Like, I couldn’t control myself, but I didn’t want to either.”

“Same here. It’s like, for a moment, nothing else mattered except… you,” I agreed, my voice low.

Her cheeks flushed deeper, but she didn’t look away. Instead, she leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to my lips. It wasn’t like the frenzied kisses from earlier—it was slow, deliberate, filled with something deeper.

“Thanks for… being patient,” she said softly when she pulled back. “You could’ve just… taken what you wanted, but you didn’t.”

“Hey,” I said, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face. “You are my wife. You’re important to me. ”

“Argod,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper, “you’re important to me too.”

We lay there for a while longer, just enjoying each other’s presence. Eventually, though, reality started creeping back in. My system chimed softly in the back of my mind, reminding me of the new skill I’d gained.

‘Verdant Bloom…’

I couldn’t help but grin. A new skill was always a win, but this one sounded especially badass. Toxic spores? Area control? Yeah, this was gonna come in handy the next time we ran into trouble.

“What’s with that smug look?” Marissa asked, raising an eyebrow, her lips curling into a teasing smirk.

I grinned, leaning back on the bed like I owned the place—which I technically did. “Can’t a guy just be happy about spending time with a beautiful woman?”

She laughed softly, shaking her head. “Careful. You’re starting to sound like a hopeless romantic.”

“Hopeless, maybe. Romantic? That’s up for debate.” I stretched my arms behind my head, enjoying the way she rolled her eyes but didn’t move away. Instead, she stayed close, her fingers idly playing with the edge of the blanket. There was something about her presence that made the room feel warmer, more alive.

Marissa smirked, clearly amused by my antics. “Should I accompany you to sleep then? Since you’re clearly too smug to be left alone.”

I blinked, not entirely sure if she was joking or serious. Her tone was playful, but there was an underlying softness in her eyes, a sincerity that made my heart do that weird fluttery thing again. “If you don’t mind,” I said, keeping my voice light. “But if you’re tired, you can go back to your room.”

“I don’t mind.” Her voice was steady, calm, like she’d already made up her mind before I even said anything.

I didn’t say anything right away, just watched her as she moved a little closer. There was something comforting about having her here, something that made the tension from earlier melt away entirely. “Then sleep with me,” I said, my tone soft but clear.

She chuckled, a low, warm sound that made my chest tighten in the best way. “Fine,” she said, her voice laced with affection.

I wasn’t sure why, but hearing her speak in that language—it did something to me. There was a familiarity in it, a personal touch that made the moment feel even more real. She leaned in, brushing her fingers lightly across my cheek, her touch soft and gentle. “Goodnight, my king,” she whispered, her eyes half-lidded as she gazed at me.

A smile tugged at the corners of my lips. “Goodnight, Marissa.”

She settled beside me, her hand slipping into my hair, idly caressing it as if it were the most natural thing in the world. I closed my eyes, letting out a slow breath. Soon, I fell asleep.

-----

Marissa lay beside Argod, staring at the ceiling as the soft sound of his breathing filled the quiet room. She could have left—should have, really. After all, she’d planned she would only stay for a little while. But something kept her rooted in place.

Her gaze drifted to him. He was fast asleep, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. Despite the commanding presence he carried when he was awake—the way he could dominate a room with just a glance—right now, he looked… peaceful. Sweet, even.

A small smile crept onto her lips before she could stop it. It felt strange, noticing these little things about him. For so long, Argod had just been Argod to her—the Dragon King. Her father’s friend. The man she married out of necessity, not love. But tonight… he felt like something more.
