Seven Sins System Chapter 547. You’re The Lord of Greed, Not The Lord of Frugality

Seven Sins System Chapter 547. You’re The Lord of Greed, Not The Lord of Frugality

"It’s just a shirt, Mammon," I said, pinching the bridge of my nose. "You know, basic clothing?"

"Not if you don’t need it," Mammon shot back smugly. "I’m saving money by not wearing one here. The guests are practically naked anyway. You gotta think long-term. Every penny saved is a penny earned."

Luci gave him a flat stare. "You’re the Lord of Greed, not the Lord of Frugality."

Mammon grinned wider. "Greed isn’t about spending recklessly, Luci. It’s about knowing the value of what you have and making sure you get more of it without throwing it away on unnecessary crap."

"Right," Luci said, rolling his eyes.

I exchanged a glance with Luci. "I can’t believe we’re having a conversation about saving money with the richest demon in existence."

"You’re welcome," Mammon said, tipping his wine glass toward us. "You should take notes. Financial discipline is important, even for lords like us."

Luci groaned, leaning back in his chair. "Next time, remind Asmo to invite someone less insufferable."

"Who, Belph?" I said with a smirk. "At least he wouldn’t try to lecture us about saving on detergent."

Mammon ignored the jab, sipping his wine with a self-satisfied smirk. "You two can laugh all you want. While you’re out there wasting money on unnecessary luxuries, I’m making sure my wealth grows. That’s how you stay on top—by being smart with what you’ve got."

"Sure, Mammon," I said, raising my glass. "Cheers to your brilliant financial strategy of… not wearing a shirt."

Mammon grinned smugly. "Now you’re getting it.”

"So instead of a shirt, you just bought a watch worth more than most kingdoms,” Luci said in a sarcastic tone, glancing at Luci's watch.

Mammon lifted his wrist proudly, showing off the expensive watch again. "This isn’t just a watch—it’s an investment. Custom design, limited edition, crafted with enchanted gold. This beauty will only go up in value. Also… “ He scoffed. "This, my friends, is the real reason I showed up early." He tapped the gleaming surface proudly. "Asmo gave me this beauty as an incentive. So while you two showed up for free, I came because I was paid. Can’t say no to a good deal. Pretty clever, huh?"

Luci and I cringed simultaneously, the second time we’d done that tonight. "You do remember you’re one of the seven sin lords, right?" I said, giving him a deadpan look. "You’re rich enough to buy everything. Even a quarter of mortal souls go straight to your hell. You can use them."

"That’s not the point," Mammon said, wagging a finger like I was a child who didn’t understand basic economics. "It’s called saving. Money is life!"

I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Yup. Money is life. Hurray," I huffed tiredly.

"Efficient," Mammon corrected smugly, taking another sip of his wine.

Luci gave me a long-suffering look before turning back to Mammon. "And here I thought pride was supposed to be insufferable. You’re giving me a run for my money tonight."

Mammon chuckled. "Speaking of money, you should really consider investing in some of the mortal realm’s luxury goods." Among the seven lords of sin, Mammon was definitely one of the most popular with mortals looking for a quick way to get rich. And honestly, there was nothing easier than selling overpriced luxury goods to achieve that. Aside from collecting souls and servants, Mammon had a particular thing for luxury goods—jewelry, gold, and diamonds. Every time some poor mortal summoned him, that was the additional reward he asked for.

Because of that, he ended up with a ridiculous collection of high-end stuff from the mortal realm. And yeah, it wasn’t exactly surprising that most of the top luxury brand owners up there turned out to be his servants.

Luci snorted. "I don’t waste my time on mortal fads. I have better things to do."

Mammon raised an eyebrow. "Better things? Like what, sulking and sipping wine?"

"Yes," Luci said without hesitation. "And maintaining my impeccable image. Unlike you, I don’t need to flaunt my wealth to feel important."

"Impeccable image?" I muttered under my breath, smirking. "Sure. That’s why you’re drinking wine at a party where half the guests are naked."

Luci shot me a look. "At least I have standards."

Mammon laughed, clearly enjoying the banter. "Standards? Luci, you’re literally sitting at a party hosted by the Lord of Lust. Standards flew out the window the moment you stepped through that portal."

"Touché," Luci admitted grudgingly, taking another sip of his wine.

Before Mammon could gloat further, a familiar figure appeared beside him. Belphegor, still half-asleep, shuffled over with his ever-present pillow clutched in one arm. His eyes were barely open, and he looked like he’d rather be anywhere else.

"Did… Did I miss something?" Belph said, his voice a lazy drawl. He yawned loudly, not even bothering to cover his mouth.

"You missed Mammon showing up half-dressed and bragging about being paid to come to a party he didn’t even want to attend," I said dryly.

Belphegor blinked slowly, clearly unimpressed. "Sounds like Mammon."

"Hey," Mammon said defensively. "I showed up, didn’t I? That’s what matters."

Belph ignored him, plopping down into a nearby chair and hugging his pillow tightly. "Wake me up when the main event starts."

"You might as well go back to wherever you came from," Luci said, raising an eyebrow. "You’ll probably sleep through it anyway."

Belph yawned again, his eyes already half-closed. "Probably. But at least I’ll be nearby if things get interesting."

Mammon sighed, clearly annoyed that Belph wasn’t giving him the attention he craved. "You know, you could at least pretend to care about something other than sleep."

"Why?" Belph asked, deadpan. "Sleeping is what I do best."

I smirked, leaning back in my chair. "At least he’s consistent."

Mammon grumbled something under his breath, but I didn’t catch it. Instead, I glanced at Luci, who looked like he was seriously reconsidering why he’d shown up at all. "So," I said, breaking the silence, "think Asmo’s finally ready to kick off whatever insanity he’s planned?"

"Probably," Luci said, setting his glass down. "And knowing Asmo, it’s going to be something we’ll regret being part of."

"Regret or not," Mammon said, raising his glass again, "as long as there’s something to gain, I’m in."

Belph didn’t even bother opening his eyes. "Wake me up when it’s over."
