The options this time are:
The Thomas Retrospective: Season 5 — You know the drill with this one
Top 10 Hidden Gems from Modern Thomas — A Top 10 video of (what I think are) the best episodes from the modern CGI series. A nice chance to give the CGI era some love!
Cars on the Road Review — As a follow-up to my big Cars video earlier this year, this would be a chunky deep-dive on the new show, talking about the things it did well and things I wish it did better or differently.

I remember S5 was well-liked until they found out there were several unused RWS stories that got overlooked in favor of original behavior, which to purists was considered unforgivable. Fortunately, time gives perspective, and everyone has pretty much moved past that

For me they’ll only stay exciting for so long once we leave the next couple of seasons, and I know they’ll happen - the other video ideas however, might not, so I voted for the CGI Highlights video. Hopefully the Star Wars video hasn’t died a death completely.
2022-10-12 06:19:02 +0000 UTCWow, I didn’t think a ‘fandom’ would have existed back then, but I suppose it makes as much sense! I know as a child I loved S5, and found S6 a little off (before then dropping off completely), so the change was clear to children too.

I remember back in the day a huge section of the fandom HATED it for straying away from Awdry's work and being "unrealistic" -- a hate that S6 & 7 received as well. Then, we suffered through the HIT era, and then the Miller era, and by the time the Brenner era rolled around (plus the republication of Chris Awdry's books reminding everyone that just weren't as good as Wilbert's), people realized that S5 should be cut a break, and it's definitely considered the last "golden" season

I rewatched the S4 one the other day and got nostalgic seeing you describe all the reasons why it’s one of my favorites from the classic series, so seeing you pick it up with S5 with your perspective will be a lot of fun.
