Vote for the Next Big Video!!

Alrighty friends! First episode of The Thomas Retrospective will be out this week.

As promised, here is the poll for you to vote on for the next BIG video. On this list are video ideas I feel particularly inspired by right now. There’s a couple ideas here that I haven’t mentioned before but have been on a running list of mine for awhile! All explained below:

Every Railway Series Ranked - All 42 Railway Series books reviewed and ranked in a big mecha video. Will probably take a few weeks to complete.

Repton in the USA - Mentioned this before in my 2022 video. This would be a Flying Scotsman USA Tour-esque type of video talking about the British steam engine Repton and its brief preservation life in the United States. A topic that hasn’t been covered online before In video format. A lot of research will be needed to go into this, so will take some time to make with a couple smaller videos out before it.

10 Engines That Almost Made It - This is a video idea I’ve had in the back of my mind for awhile, but have never mentioned on the channel before. Brief histories of 10 significant (British) steam engines in real life that almost made it to preservation, but sadly didn’t make the cut.

Debunking Thomas Misconceptions - So what this would be is a video explaining common mistakes made about the Thomas show and books. Starting with the most common “normie” misconceptions (i.e. Henry was left to die in the tunnel, etc) and then going into more nitty-gritty lore stuff (i.e. Maron is at the top of Gordon’s Hill in the books, etc.).

These are all big videos, so I will probably put out a Tug’s Trains or something before just to keep content flowing on the channel. Let me know below who you’d like to see!

Vote below. Poll ends in a day!

I think debunking Thomas myths might be a good vedio as a one off, as way to increase your subscribers as I personally found you though the unanswerable Thomas questions series. Not a super long video, but one that's easy to consume and anyone can watch even if they arnt super into thomas

It's a very hard decision between RWS ranked and debunking, but I'd definitely vouch for a video debunking the unfortunate common misconceptions surrounding the franchise, especially from the words of you. But it would be nice if all 4 of those ideas are turned into videos in the near future!

Same here. I'd love to see the Thomas videos, don't get me wrong, but more variety with the occasional real-life documentaries are a real treat

I see and acknowledge the memetic popularity of the ranking vid, but I do enjoy your non-fiction / documentary work. Especially since it often inspires others, as with the Tugs Retrospective, or the Scotsman video inspiring others to cover its adventures down here!

I would love for both Debunking and Every Series Ranked to be the next two big videos. Ball's in your court Tug!

Crit or Quit

This was admittedly quite difficult; I hope all these ideas become videos in the near future! Just a suggestion, would it be preferable to make two separate polls (One for Thomas videos and another for other topics)? That way, both types of topics would get votes without potential confounds in the voting process!

praying that Debunking Misconceptions wins purely because literally yesterday I made a google doc for that exact thing

I hope you get to all 4 of these sometime, difficult to choose only one!

The idea that some people still unironically believe Henry died in the tunnel will never not be funny to me, especially when there are actual episodes in the show that have comparatively darker ways for engines to go, such as Smudger being converted into a generator, or the story of the narrow-gauge engine on the bridge. And those are just the ones I remember off the top of my head. I know Smudger isn't dead, and I'm not one of those people that says Sodor is run by Nazis, but still, I think engines just completely losing their mobility and never showing up again in the show is a much more unnerving concept than Henry just being left in the tunnel for a while lmao.

Triff

Even though you're into British Railways and Trains, I'd like to see someone do a full on documentary of The 1976 Bicentennial American Freedom Train. I've never seen a web documentary about it!

I think he means more things within the show and books that people have misinterpreted

That's a difficult choice
