If it ends up taking too long, I will 100% at least post Smokey Beta version because I actually have that done. :) Did I plan on having them fuse this episode? Initially, no, but it ended up being the exact solution to my writer's block, so we're going with it!

2022-06-07 01:08:43 +0000 UTCPearl is either going to be jealous or proud. Nervous about what could have happened regarding the big secret either way. Garnet will be bummed out missing it. Steven/Volleyball acceptance of the self-hating kid Fusion could do wonders for their mental states, but for the sake of drama I don’t think that’ll be happening this time. Wonderful mother/daughter shared angst makes for good plot. Steven may have mounting discomfort with his own inability to Fuse with Gems. Especially if her secret gets revealed before he can Fuse without mind control, the Diamond excuse gets all the more removed. Imagine Amethyst and/or Volleyball finds out and has to keep the secret! Especially if Steven doesn’t find out alongside her. They’d all be keeping Steven and Garnet in the dark, for polar opposite reasons. Though Smoky embodying the most positive and inwardly negative aspects of her parts is dangerous coming at Peridot and Lapis. The former dragging them with Homeworld propaganda and shame over Era 2, the latter just having that skill with mean that her teenage-like mind can pull. Ohhhh, imagine Jasper’s reaction if they form Smoky after the reveal. Unlike with Steven she can’t justify a means of attack, unless its “pick me next time, mom”.
