Image is of Skadi attempting to sneak out into the garage as I leave the house. She makes a terrible traveling companion, but she doesn't like being left behind.

I am posting something approaching on time and with announcements! (What a horrible way to die! Sorry, I knew Scout leaders during formative public speaking years)

First and foremost, I will be travelling at the end of September for a research trip. I will be joining Drachinifel and Dr. Alex Clarke for their annual Ship Shape research trip, heading to Japan with them and a few other gentlemen (mostly Dans, from what I can tell) to visit the various naval history museums there.

I’m mostly decorative and there to soak up information, but the entire affair is fundraised. If you want to help the team out, check out ship-shape.org.uk for donation information - eventually. As I post this, the update is not yet live, though we should all be talking it up more once the details are up.

Secondly, and thankfully going to be taking place after the trip, as mentioned there is going to be a fourth Teer & Kard novel. Adept’s Path will be launching at the end of November and I hope to have a preorder up in the next couple of weeks.

Teer is dealing with the aftermath of having someone else’s entire life shoved into his head—not to mention the fact that the person doing the shoving didn’t have friendly intentions!

I am not currently sure whether I am going to do an audiobook of Adept’s Path. The Wardtown Rider omnibus audio of the first three books has basically not sold at all and while Adept’s Path is longer than any of them, it is still a Western in length and shorter than I’m told people prefer for their audiobook credit.

Thirdly, I am hoping to have the general release of Void Spheres sometime this year, but the best date would be during the Japan trip and I don’t think I want to be trying to handle uploads and releases from hotels. (I do remember that I promised the Patreon release in August and should be able to make that happen, barring unexpected complications.)

What am I working on?

Starship’s Mage 18, Shadow of Mars, is coming along apace. Life is instilling more interruptions than I might like—I am in Saskatchewan as I write this blog post to hang out with my family, which is fantastic and yet costs me three full working days I can’t help but begrudge sometimes. Plus medical appointments (the only thing worse than getting older is the alternative!) and the various paraphernalia of house ownership.

But the book continues. Roslyn is being Roslyn and making lives complicated, including her own. She’ll either get a court martial or another Medal of Valor out of this. She’d betting on the court, of course.

By September, I hope to be working on Broken Prince, the fifth House Adamant novel. As the title implies, this isn’t a Lorraine book, so it’s going to be an interesting exercise.

My brain being what it is, I have, of course, roughly two major story ideas that have decided to take up residence and resist eviction. I have no time to write them out, but I will have to at least outline them soon I think.

Otherwise, I have the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack playing on repeat and need to watch the movie. I recently read Magica Riot (Non Amazon Links) by Kara Buchanan and thought it was an absolute blast. I didn’t expect trans magical girls to work quite so well as she made it work, and there’s a lot of both heart and skill in one little book.

So check out Magica Riot and check out the Ship-Shape fundraiser. Then keep an eye on this space for more news from me.

Happy Reading all.
