Surviving his near death encounter with the Gavrielles in what should have been the trackign down and eliminating of bandits. Instead, Martine found himself recovering, bed-ridden for a decade. During this time, he was met with certain priests of the Holy Mother Church's orders, granted an opportunity for retribution. On the scrolls and books written on 'those that feed on the abyss' and forbidden dark artes Martine learned of Sanguinism and the Sanguine artes held by his now mortal enemies.
With the permission of Cardinal Dorn, overseer of the church's esoteric and arcane, Martine subjected his body to the knowledge in advancing the Huema condition beyond normal,. His body was crippled regardless due to what he suffered, yet his mind for magik artes grew. Becoming one of the Hunt, Martine would drain his captives of their blood, consuming it. In such, he discovered an ancient secret of the Penumbra, claiming some of their power and vitality as his own.
There are few lines Martine has not crossed in his journey for revenge against the Penumbra, even sacrificing Huema lives if need be. He will continue to consume his enemies until draining the life from the devil woman and her spawn, allowing Captain Sage and his fellow knights to rest in peace.
