The Ralgul are vicious and keen predators and any semblance to man is quickly dismissed by their vicious nature. Because not much is known of Ral and Ralgul, it is yet disputed whether they are are the same kind or a kindred due to different physical traits between the two. They have been encountered in the canyons of Surlvhal's and Isalme's subterra. Slightly larger in stature, their feathers are prizes among the people of the desert, often seen decorating headresses of hunters and warriors.
Female Ralgul are just as aggressive as their male counterparts, yet lack their size and combat capacity given their forearms. Unlike Ral however, they are willing to fight and hunt in murders, at times even alongside the males to bring down larger prey. This makes them substantially more deadly to man wishing to fend them off and require trained troops to combat them.
Ralgul females have tails and talons covered by scale-like flesh that is difficult for standard arrows to pierce. They use their tail as a club or to lash, but females possess an added means of defense; the tip of their tail acts as a small blunt weapon, but can also open to expose a venomous stinger. Their talons as well are coated with the material while their saliva is said to paralyze.
A major difference from their kindred is that Ralgul lay their eggs without accompaniment by Raba, so a standard birthing process for an avian creature.
