Leien was raised within the assassin guild, Cematuar, worshipers of gods of death. Trained in stealth, the young often comprise of Cematuar's thief guild until old enough to take on contracts.

Leien however, was one of those set aside by zealot members of the death gods, any sense of self worn away to make place for only obedience and adherents to their god and orders. This was the condition in which he arrived into the service of the Cinqe Cattedra of Isalme. Assigned under Marquis Franceso, Leien's proficiency grew quickly, finding pleasure instead of apathy in his duty, this concept introduced by Franceso's carnal rewards to Leien. As a favor to Commander Megiddo, the Marquis lent Leien to him that needed the expertise of Cematuar's best. Marveling at his ease and execution of the task, Megiddo offered Leien greater opportunity, one he would assure in negotiation with Cematuar. To null and void his contract with the Marquis, Leien assassinated him.

His role remains much the same within Ematus Sercia, though has accompanied his fellow Transients outside the shadows on assignments. His ability to act out emotions is indistinguishable from anyone else, though Leien has come to experience a sense of camaraderie between Nar and Rema.

As of recent, and of his own volition, he has volunteered to help in Rema's son's training to enter Ematus Sercia. This would be the first time Leien has taken a genuine interest in another, though the nature of this may not be as benevolent as it seems, given his background.
