This was a huge chunk of writing, and I was riveted reading every page! In all honesty, while I love this story in comic form, I think it works better for me as a written novel. You're able to go deeper into characterizations, and I like reading the in-depth 'voices' of the characters (Dhaval and Johannes are unexpected standouts for me). I'll list out some opinions and observations below, in chronological order. I like that Johannes thinks of Luther as a son. Ever since The Heretic was first published, I liked how these two men with very different life experiences ended up coming together to become family. I think Luther is holding onto his composure relatively well considering the impossible situation his fleet is in. I know they're lurking, but dragons, let Luther get some bonding time with Amon first before you strike! I love how much of a bitch (by her own admission) Isolde is, and how the men love her for it. It's no spoiler to say she's merciless with her clients – and that's what they desperately want from her. But despite the abrasive demeanor, she's fiercely protective of Amon. I'm glad he has her, though she gives him VERY tough love. Amon's pseudo-parental relationship to Dhaval is sweet despite the horrific life the both of them have been forced into. I was NOT expecting a chapter from Manjusha's perspective. She is slightly less of a psychopath then her mother, but still deserves to be guillotined. I can't believe she's dumb enough to not think that Isolde sees right through her games. Amon's clients seem to be the kind of guys that would still consider themselves to be 'totally straight' after getting serviced by him. *eyeroll* Considering his trauma, I can't blame Dhaval for being in denial until he saw them. He's going to find out quickly that there is no escape, at least not without help from outside forces.
