Chapter 62: Hulk Appears

Cryonics designed to preserve human life required delicate precision—replacing blood with refrigerated liquid to avoid ice crystals damaging cells. But as a weapon, that delicacy wasn’t necessary. Frozen Man’s genius was in combining freezing agents with refrigeration fluids while performing blood transfusions. A brilliant but unsettlingly twisted approach.
Adam wasn’t like Frozen Man; his body wasn’t resistant to extreme cold. Every step of his research demanded extensive calculations and caution.
“Crap, failed again!” Adam slammed a test tube into the waste bin, his frustration boiling over. Another mouse down, another dead end.
The process was significantly harder than he had envisioned. He slumped into his chair, rubbing his temple, and thought bitterly of Tony Stark. That smug genius seemed to solve problems effortlessly, his mind operating like a supercomputer.
“Stark probably resolved Pepper’s Extremis issues in a week while half-drunk,” Adam muttered.
He was about to return to his work when his phone buzzed.
“Speak of the devil,” Adam said with a wry smile. Tony Stark’s name flashed on the screen.
“Adam,” Tony said, his tone unusually tense. “Do you know what’s going on in New York right now?”
“Should I?” Adam leaned back, a hint of amusement in his voice.
“There’s a monster tearing through Fifth Avenue,” Tony snapped. “The whole street is destroyed!”
Adam frowned. “A monster? Don’t you guys in New York have enough security to handle that? Or did aliens invade again?”
“I wish it was aliens!” Tony retorted. “It’s worse. Fifth Avenue is a war zone, and Ross—that Ross—is in charge. He’s locked the area down, won’t let anyone in or out, and is just firing at everything that moves!”
Adam’s heart sank. He knew exactly who Tony was talking about.
“Let me guess,” Adam said cautiously. “Two monsters are involved, right? One of them big and green, and the other an ugly brute?”
There was a pause on the other end of the line.
“How the hell do you know that?” Tony demanded. “Adam, what are you not telling me?”
Adam sighed, rubbing his temple. “It’s Bruce Banner,” he admitted.
“What?!” Tony shouted. “You’re telling me Bruce Banner is one of those monsters? That’s impossible!”
“It’s not,” Adam replied. “Look, I’ll send you some files. Just promise me you’ll keep this quiet. I… borrowed them from the military.”
Minutes later, Tony was silent as he reviewed the documents Adam had sent. When he finally spoke, his voice was filled with anger.
“Ross… that bastard. He’s been hunting Banner like an animal, turning him into this… this thing!”
Adam nodded grimly. “Ross has been after Banner ever since the experiment went wrong. And it looks like he’s created another monster—Abomination. That’s who Banner’s fighting right now.”
Tony groaned. “This is bad. Two giant monsters tearing through New York, and the military’s making it worse. What’s the plan, Adam?”
Adam hesitated. He knew getting involved meant risking his life, but the destruction in New York couldn’t be ignored.
“Tony,” Adam said finally. “Stay out of this. Your suit can’t handle those two. Let me take care of it.”
“Are you sure?” Tony asked.
“I have something… experimental,” Adam replied cryptically.
After ending the call, Adam turned to Skynet.
“Prepare my armor,” he ordered. “And upload the most recent schematics for Hulk and Abomination.”
“Understood, Master,” Skynet replied.
Adam suited up, his mind racing. He wasn’t just going to stop two rampaging monsters—he had another goal: to understand the full extent of Bruce Banner’s potential and gather data on the military’s experiments.
“Let’s see what you’ve got, Banner,” Adam muttered as he launched into the sky, heading for Fifth Avenue.
