Footage from a Soviet Ghost Town
Added 2023-09-06 08:30:49 +0000 UTCThis is footage I found that I had filmed many years ago that I thought my patrons might find interesting, even if I'm not the best cameraman. This is a town called Pyramiden, in what is now Norway, which used to be a Soviet coal mining settlement that became abandoned in the 90s because of lack of funds. It's complete with its own living quarters, school, sports and cultural center, and cafeteria for common dining, all of which has been quite well-preserved due to the cold weather. Today, the town has a population of 6 during the summer. We were shown around by a guide, armed with a rifle in case of a bear attack, and we were served vodka at the town's hotel. Hope you find it interesting!
