A movie list?

I'm not sure if this is a good idea because it's so different from my usual format and maybe people would be too scared that I'm becoming Top Mojo. But on the other hand, politically conscious movies can be a great source of education, so it might be worthwhile?

2022-05-29 16:51:58 +0000 UTCone that i heard is great is called REDS (1981) which is about the American communist activist and journalist John Reed who aided the Russian Revolution and trying, but failing to spread its international spirit to the US. He also produced probably the most famous account of the Revolution in his “Ten Days That Shook the World.”

2022-05-27 09:31:37 +0000 UTCI'm always interested in discussion of movies, so I'd definitely watch it. But I do think the "value" of the topic depends on your definition of a "leftist" movie. I feel that movies that exist primarily for the sake of ideology typically feel more like propaganda than art, whereas interesting art can be interpreted via leftist lenses to yield profound messages. This may seem like a silly example, but in Movie Bob's review of Thor Ragnarok, he points out how Hela, the personification of Colonialism, could only be stopped by the total destruction of Asgard, established to be the fruits of said colonialism, and that this symbolizes how the product of Colonialism (i.e. the wealth of many modern countries) can never be purified from the taint of their origin and must be destroyed for society to progress.
